Irene's game today.

Noel says that the battle of the sexes has become very close, with just over £1,000 in between the women and the men...he says that today's female player should be determined to put them in a stronger lead! Noel reminds us that someone from the winning sex will be playing for £500,000 on the 50th show, and last night, the men and the women voted for who they'd want it to be should they win...here's the board...




A very timid Irene has Box 18 today! Box 18 on your 18th show, Noel says...Irene Porter is a 55-year old librarian from Newcastle...Noel says she has that librarian look about her, and Irene isn't sure whether to say thank you or not! Irene talks about her family...she has 7 children, and currently 3 grandchildren, though there's a fourth on the way.. Irene says her family are very close and the money she wins will go to all of them...one of her children, Angie is in the audience today...Noel asks Angie how she's feeling, and she says very nervous...Noel says they're a very nervous family...Irene says her husband is very brave, and Noel says he wasn't brave enough to turn up!

We see some pictures of Irene with friends...Irene says that she thinks for 55, her social life isn't too bad! She says she does a lot of bingo so the banker will have to watch out! Irene confirms she chose Box 18 at random...
