Since DoND is still trying to make a millionaire out of someone, I thought I'd try asking this question. So far, in the past year or so, we've have millionaires made on Power of 10 (on the first episode), 1 vs. 100 (another NBC Endemol offering that is far superior to DoND, IMO), and Duel (a 6-night effort from ABC). However, we have yet to see someone win the big bucks on DoND, even with the Million-Dollar Mission going on. They'll have 13 million-dollar cases on the board (in other words, half the cases will have $1 million inside), and they still won't give the money away, so says my brother. He's probably right. So, my question to you, the valued members of this forum, is, which game show will produce America's next millionaire? The polls are now open, so feel free to vote.

By the way, I read somewhere online that if someone actually does will the million during the Million-Dollar Mission, an asterisk should be placed next to their name in the record books, just like certain baseball players *cough* Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, etc. *cough* and their records. These are someone else's words, not my own.

Deal or no deal all the way, I am still hoping that this season will bring the winner of $1,000,000 because of the million dollar mission.

By all accounts, it should be DoND. But for the MDM to produce a jackpot win, it needs someone to be left with two or more MDCs at the end and not deal earlier than that. This isn't hugely likely.

That said, I'm pretty sure it'll happen at some point, so I voted DoND.

Fifth Grader has to produce a millionaire this season, surely - and I'd say that there's a reasonable chance we'll get one out of Don't Forget The Lyrics and Power of 10 too (we've had a fair few get to $100,000, and I think you can usually narrow down enough to get within 10% on the last question about every three or four times, and a majority seem to go for the MDQ).

1 vs 100 won't produce another winner. The new prize tree makes the risks bigger at the critical point, and just about everyone is going to quit, if not at $250k, then certainly at $500k.

Jeopardy! won't produce another millionaire for years except through a $1m tournament. I just don't see another person will ever dominate like KJ did.

Millionaire hasn't produced a winner in four years, and while we came exceedingly close in each of the last two November sweeps periods, I think we'll still be waiting a while. Maybe November 2008? ;)

I think 'any other' is a very smart second choice though. If you'd done this poll at any point last year, 'any other' wins - the only $1m wins last year were on Survivor, Amazing Race and Duel. Basically, for 'any other' to lose requires another $1m win on one of the game shows you list before the Survivor season finale. I think DoND will do that, but I'm not sure, and I'm fairly sure nothing else (save maybe Fifth Grader and maybe Power of 10) will.

Don't forget "Power of 10"s first episode! :D

I hope 5th Grader has one this year. We've had quite a few $500,000 winners.

On Don't Forget The Lyrics!, we had a lady win $500,000, but to win the $1,000,000 on that show, it's sooooo difficult.

Power of 10 had a handful of $100,000 winners, so a $1,000,000 win is still up there!

As for Millionaire?, all you need is a very smart player who uses their lifelines wisely, and knows the strategy of the game to win big! Hopefully soon!

And for Deal or No Deal...they will have one soon, then we can return to normal gameplay!!!! :-D

I'd say for Millionaire what you need is someone who knows 11 questions off the bat, knows a twelfth after the 50:50, gets a thirteenth the audience knows, gets a fourteenth a friend knows and switches out the fifteenth for another one that can be answered off the bat.

That, and someone who wouldn't be so heartbroken over losing $475,000 that they feel utterly unable to contemplate it. That's all that stopped Ogi winning the million; that's all that prevented a $475k loss in November.

Lyrics won't likely produce a millionaire, as there's no real guidance for the Million Dollar Song. But it's possible. There's enough pop culture junkies out there to make it a viable possibility, but see also my points on Millionaire.

And that's pretty much what holds for Fifth Grader too.

And after hearing the MDM is over at nine, apparently, I'd like to change my vote to 'any other'.

I don't think any of the current crop will get a $1m win before the Survivor season finale, though Fifth Grader had better prove me wrong.

If DoND USA's second Million-Dollar Mission fails, so does the show. Literally. If they can't give the big bucks away with a whopping nine million-dollar cases available, then they never will.

I hate to bump, but you can now cross Power of 10 off the list. Here's why: http://www.buzzerblog.com/
The first article at the top of the page says it all.

That's gotta be the dumbest scheduling of all time. How can you lose a popular unscripted show in a writers' strike? Just put a CSI rerun in that slot and use Power of 10 where, you know, it might do something. Not against two of the three biggest shows on television with new episodes being produced.
