Can someone explain to me why Deal or no deal UK is doing an Independence Day special? Independence Day is solely American and we'd rather forget any part that we played in American Independence!

I can understand Christmas specials, I can understand Easter specials, I can understand milestone show specials and I can even undestand Halloween special because we have adopted Halloween as a celebration as well as America. (I can't understand last year's Wimbledon Special but I think that was just an act of desperation).

The idea that they are doing an Independence Day Special just seems kind of odd. They didn't do one last year IIRC and the fact that the Viewer's Boxes are giving away £75,000 on a holiday that we don't celebrate but yet only offered £50,000 on the 500th show also seems strange. What do you think? Should they really be celebrating it?

Noel said something like "The Banker started his career on Wall Street and always celebrates Independence Day!" - conveniently forgetting that it wasn't even mentioned this time last year...

It's a complete mystery to me why anybody at Endemol would think we are the slightest bit interested in American Independance Day. Its totally bizarre.

What next? Bastille Day, Australia Day, National Bird Day, National Dress-Up-Your-Pet Day.

The mind boggles.

It's just a bit of fun to get people still watching after the 500th show and into the Summer break. Incredibly lucky timing that I got to be in the audience for it, though, as you'll see it was absolutely great fun. The Endemol lady gave me dates for Monday, Wednesday and Thursday back in March, and if I'd have gone with Monday I'd have seen Steve's 10p win and Wednesday would have had Frazer's £1 win. So hopefully todays will be a better result!

Tut tut. Independance day is AMERICAN, we are not united with them[no doubt if france had independance day then it would all be different, they are part of europe see] and we do not celebrate independance day along with them unless we are americans living over here, or britons living over there.

Still, sort of looking forward to it

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.
