At the end of the day, beating the banker is completely worthless and irrelevant. I think the banker works in the production team. I doubt there is an individual person at the end of the line. So beating the banker isnt really THAT important.

It depends on how you look at the game, really. If you're just viewing it as a quick and easy way to get some money, then no, beating the banker won't be important at all. Personally, while I'd obviously like a good amount of money too, I would also want to play as good a game as possible and have a memorable, entertaining show. To me, beating the banker would be a big part of that.

I think it depends on how you define "beating the banker". If it's just selling your box for more than it's worth, but you could have got a lot more by dealing earlier or later, then it doesn't really mean much.

But if you deal for more than your box amount AND for the highest offer available to you during your game, then that is relevant because it means you have won the most money possible in that particular game. In other words, you can't control what's in the boxes you open but you can control the timing of your deal or whether to take one at all.

I think for many beating the banker is as important as the money, and is likely to be what drives a lot of contestants past an offer they would considering dealing at.

Of course: without this element, the show becomes an ATM dishing out cash rather than a game with winners and losers.
