Noel's biggest ever Deal

By DEREK ROBINS
June 14, 2007

COMMENT ON THIS STORY

DEAL OR NO DEAL will celebrate its 500th edition with its biggest ever jackpot of £500,000.

The lucky contestant going for the mega prize on June 29 will be cheered on by host Noel Edmonds, the enigmatic Banker and a studio audience of past players.

They will include the show’s only £250,000 winner Laura Pearce and the not so lucky Lucy Harrington who won just £5.

The Banker said: “I remember each and every one of the 500 verminous individuals who have dared to crawl before me.

“I remember fondly the shattered lives and broken dreams. I love it when they weep. There’s nothing like a hollow sob. Such good times.”

The show has been a huge success since it began in 2005. It has resurrected Noel’s TV career and become a hit in nearly 100 countries and territories.

The Channel 4 game show also become one of UK TV’s highest rated daytime shows with a top audience of 4.8 million in January this year.

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

So it's confirmed then...the top prize will be £500,000 and the player will probably be selected by vote from the other players.

If it helps, I'd have guessed the top prize would have been aptly doubled for the 500th show as itis a huge milestone.

My brother was just saying to me just now...'So I wonder what they do in another two-and-a-half years time when they reach 1,000 shows!!!'

If it lasts that long of course! I'm sure it will!

Apparently the show will be on at 4:15 as normal as the 8pm slot is taken up with BB stuff and the like - I thought it'd be an hour-long show - apparently they're having interviews with the contestants during the breaks of the week starting 25th June.

I reckon that's the closest to our Hall of Fame 2006-7 section that we're going to get, ay? Still, looking forward to it!
