An idea I had literally this morning while seeing that 'You're Fired' Apprentice spinoff. In the style of that and Big Brother's Little Brother, they should do one on More4 at 5pm (or maybe 7pm after the repeat) called 'Deal or No Deal: Behind the Boxes' but with a better name. It could have:

  • Interview with the contestant who's just played
  • Montage of their best bits on the wings
  • Extra footage edited out of today's show
  • Classic clips that viewers phone in to request
  • Maybe a bit about the Classic DOND vote every Saturday

The host could be 50 shows Lucy, too!

Of course it'd be going up against Paul O Grady or whatever so would probably fail miserably. Would be fun to watch, though! What other ideas would be good for it, or would it be overkill?

(if someone's done a thread about this before then sorry, it just came to me!)

That would be terrific to see, especially with things like bloopers, deleted parts, stings I think they're called. That would be fab, but can't see it happening, mostly due to the fact that there is a huge time difference.

Would love for it to happen one day though!

You've sold me on that bit! :-)

I think there has been a thread on this before actually. It's a great idea though. Someone should pitch it to Endemol! 8)

I'd love to see the edited version of a game and the bloopers would be funny.

To be honest, I think there's more scope for interesting material in a show like this than in one of these Big Brother spin-off shows! I wouldn't like it being on More4 though as I can't get More4 but I think there's definitely a gap for a spin-off show, perhaps one that's one once a week or once a month, or every so often, such as after every 50th show.

But how will they fit 50 interviews in one show? :?

Do enough people care though? I'd love it, as I'm sure would everyone else on the forum, but I'm not sure anyone else would be bothered enough to want to watch it.

I don't think an interview with every contestant would be necessary - perhaps 5 interviews with the shows that were most memorable or something - you wouldn't want every player getting interviewed as it'd get a little repetitive.

Yes exactly, I think the casual viewer probably wouldn't care about contestant interviews but they may be interested if the show contained interviews with the 5 most memorable contestants in the past 50 shows.

I've thought about this before, maybe after the sunday show there could be 25 mintue show speaking to the players which played that week and clips from the hotel prehaps this would go some way to creating a DOND realty type show (im sure Noel would'nt like this idea although he wouldnt present it.) Maybe they could get a different former player each week to do it and they could recap on there game. Or maybe they could do a show call Deal or No Deal's Big Box with Russel Brand.

I did plan such a spin-off for my fantasy series actually...

I'll put it this way. If more people watch it on More4 than would watch whatever else would be on instead it'd be worth it. I've no idea if that would be true.

Don't know if it would work as a series, but I'm sure it would be a hit as a one-off behind the scenes documentary, like I seem to remember they did with Millionaire.

They could track a group of contestants all the way from auditions to the hotel, the wings and the Crazy Chair, then show how they react to winning big or leaving with next to nothing, then what happens when their shows are actually broadcast and how their lives are affected by the whole experience!

Deal or no Deal: At The Hotel. Basically, there would be cameras in the hotel capturing the contestants every waking moment. It would be more interesting than that other Edemol produced show with the same concept.

I'm sure if there was any mileage in the idea Endemol would have been on the case ages ago.

Unfortunately apart from us few sad individuals whos post on this and other forums I don't think the general public are that bothered about contestants in, what is after all, a throwaway daily game show.

I'm certainly not the slightest bit interested in the contestants in any context other than how they perform on the show.
