Why couldn't the banker just offer 15,0001 and a penny in the first place.

Because that would have been a sensible way to produce the big finish.

There were nine members of the 1p club in the history of the show between 4:15pm on October 31, 2005 and 5:25pm on May 13, 2007. That's what I'm saying.

10 members. He won the 1p box. Just think of it as a reverse match-play as a separate game ;)

I agree, the £15,000 was just extra

I think this counts as member number 10, cus he kinda won 1p with a bonus at the end.

Did any of the previous 1p winners get additional prizes, like a "hit the 1p in the first round" Banker/Bunney Bonus while they were on the wings, or a prize given away by other contestants like in Valentine's week, etc? Or is PJ the first one whose claims for membership are doubtful?

I think it's up to the other 9 members to decide whether he should be admitted though...

Trevor would have got a share of the champagne from Russell's game, and Sally got the 1p box insert - clutching at straws somewhat! :)

The banker was a bit mean with P.J but i'm glad he got £15,000 and 1p.

There's now 10 members of the 1p club!

I think it should still count as 1p. You don't count Rose as winning £1,150 do you?

10 members. That £15 000 was ridiculous, he never should have got it (liked the guy very much, but it seems unfair to people like Trevor, the game is a hard one)

Trevor just had unrelenting bad luck. PJ had the chance to nip out at a decent offer (Above the peak £20,000) but it wasn't offered to him. It was only right to include the £15,000. It might have actually made the £15,000 feel more, once you've won 1p you just want anything to happen as long as it means you get some money. I'm sure him dealing £20,000 and finding out he swapped for £75,000 would be gutting. It should have happened today, cos then he leaves with decent money and 4 delivers. It didn't.

Ah well, it's not the first time the 1p has come to the table in a swap! :)

I've read a few posts saying it isn't fair on the other 1p winners, but at least they got the chance to deal at a certain point! PJ would've probably dealt at the offer, which probably would've been at least £20,000 - so I think it's only right he got the extra £15,000!

Appalling banker play today.

Oh and I suppose there are 10 members of the 1p club now - but it doesn't really feel like PJ is a member of it - he didn't really get to finish his game!

Did he deal at £15,000.01? No.
Did he have £15,000.01 in his box? No.
Did he open his box at the end of the game, without having previously dealt, to reveal 1p? Yes.

Therefore, he is in the 1p club.

Yeah, he won 1p. When the last box is opened, that's the end of the game......Noel does say "Joe Bloggs, open box 24 and complete the game" or whatever.

I suppose it's like Gabrielle the First's game in that the Banker increased the winnings after the last box had been opened. I still count her win as offically £1,000 though as that was the value of the box she decided to open and win its contents. Same with PJ.

He won 1p that is what was in his box when he was in play and what a hillarious way to win it too.

Pity the show lost their bottles and compensated him to avoid outrage.
