That alot of the time the contestants who open the box do not know what the amount is until afterwards i heard Jeff speak to Jamie and Jamie whispered what was it what was it? and Jeff goes something like thank you the 50. I think it would be better if the players bent the box all the way back so you get to see the reaction straight away? I really think the players on the wings deserve to know it before/same time as audience.

Couldn't agree with you more,it's really frustrating as you hold the lid and the pause for about 10 seconds not knowing what is in there, should really take a leaf out of Lynn's book as she just looked anyway she could. :-D

I've always wondered how the audience that sit way up at the back get to see whats in the box. Surely they can't see the exact amount but only red/blue? :?

I just presumed they put a close up of the box's contents up on the board briefly...but obviously not!

It must've been even harder in the early shows of the day when the box values were white and not red / blue!

I have always wondered that, they still manage to groan though and make the appropriate reaction whether its a high or low red.

Maybe it was easier as the audience was much smaller at the beginning, there weren't nearly so many up at the back.

I know what you mean, but I think the one person in about 3.5 million doesn't always mind not knowing exactly whats in the box.

Remember that in the early shows Noel would call the box amount out every time, which would make it a lot easier.

Certainly during my time as a pilgrim I've found it pretty clear what each amount is, although I've never sat right at the back.

on the spanish version, the suitcase (box) opener is the 1st person to see what's inside (they open it towards themselves). some of the time they do a fake reaction to mix things up a bit.
