I've always wondered when a game gets to the point where it really is 'all or peanuts'. I've always defined it 1 significant amount in play, and in order for the offers to rise, it would be fine to remove every other amount.
However, watching Friday's game, Graeme still had the £250 000, £35 000 and £20 000 in play and Noel described it as 'all or peanuts'. I would hardly describe £35k as 'peanuts' would you? Surely Noel still realises that sums like £20 000 are still massive amounts of money, and that taking them out in the stage that Graeme was in was surely going to effect the game?

Which brings me to my main question; what for you is an 'all or peanuts' position?

When taking out the top amount leaves a board on which I'd be disappointed to walk away with every single one of the other amounts.

I think it would be fair enough to describe that as a "one-box game" - that means the shape of the game is totally dependent on keeping one box which is much higher than the others, but doesn't necessarily mean the remaining amounts are not worthwhile.

But a true "all-or-peanuts" I would say is one significant red, with the only other boxes remaining being blues and perhaps £1,000.

All or Peanuts would be:

Blue(s) and one of the Power 5 only

I'd agree with that too - but as always with DOND, it all depends how you value money!

It doesn't necessarily have to be a one box game for me to consider it all or peanuts. Lance's last 5 would be a good example - two huge reds of which there is little difference and 3 blues - I think when there are no middle reds (but at least one power 5 there) in when I would say it is!

Lance's was odd.

Really that final five I'd be looking at it as 60% chance of an all-or-peanuts final two, a 30% chance of disaster and a 10% chance of... what actually happened...

I'm not sure I'd have turned it down at the time but I think I would. I certainly would now with current final two patterns, but then again £75k/£100k/3 blues would be a £30k offer anyway, and that I would take!

I'd define all or peanuts one or perhaps two reds £10,000 or over with a bunch of blues and perhaps the £1000.
