Hi Folks

As you know I am a big fan of J.T and of course Raj, and was thrilled when Jt did what he did for Lucy. When my husband was on Saturday Night Take Away I met a lady in the audience who had a son with Cerebral Palsy and we got really friendly. My husband was picked and went on to win the ads, and she asked me to get ant and decs autograph for her son as she was arranging a charity auction to buy him a special bike. So I took her number and did that, and also managed to back Robbie Williams and Jonathon Wilkes into a corner as well. We then wrote to loads of Celebs and went to Gloucester and did the auction for them raising £1800 so her son got his bike and their first family holiday since he was born. Which was our total pleasure to do if you get lucky you should share it around if you can. I totally understand the friendships among the players on Dond as I made a few myself in the green room in London.

That is a really nice story!

I haven't done anything to that magnitude but if I see someone collecting donations in the street usually give them a £1 as that makes your day. :D

Suezan, we need more people like you in this world. That was a really kind thing to do. You really should be proud of yourselves. :-)

Don't forget it's the small things in life that make the difference. ;)

Thanks for the lovely comments, I was glad we were in a position to help someone else who like us travelled to London on a 1 in a 100 chance of changing their lives, (her husband was one of the 100 like mine to be picked to win the ads) and their reasons for being there (the welfare of their little boy) to me made me feel very humble it was us that won. Helping them meant more to me then the win to see his little face when he got his holiday and his special bike which enabled him to be mobile safely was worth any sum of money.

That is absolutely wonderful. It's so easy when watching the news and reading the papers to think that people do not care about each other but what you did made someone very happy. Well done!

Although I haven't done it yet, I shall be doing a coast to coast walk from the lake district to the north sea in August to raise money for charity. I thought I might as well have a holiday and try (like Suezan) to help people who might not be able to afford to go on one themselves. And of course, there'd be a sense of personal achievement!

Alex :-)

Great stories everyone :-D Its lovely to see that the human spirit is actually what I hope it to be.

I unfortunately lost my brother three years ago this month to adult sudden death at 26. As he was so musical and most of his friends were too , I came up with the idea to stage a charity concert and his friends jumped on it and ran !! All his friends played, we had a mammoth raffle and I even conquered my stage fright and sang a tune :-D. We had a phenomenal time, remembered my brother and raised a few thousand for the charity SADS that raises awareness of this rare and little known ilness (although coincidentally we had lost a close family friend to the same thing in two months before). You may have heard of footballers dropping dead on the pitch, well thats what I'm talking about.

If any member of your family, especially fit young men, show up in a routine medical check with a mild arrythmia - please alert the doctor to the risk of this condition- although it is not a certainty !! My brother's was picked up when he got into the Police but it was not viewed as a risk as many people have it without consequence, it turns out he also had an enlarged heart that was undetectable. It was no one's fault but with this money the charity has been able to buy machines that can help detect this and prevent it from happening to others.

I think Noel, who is a patron of lots of charities, would be pleased to read about fans of DOND doing a lot of work for Charity. :)

I'd love to do something like what you lot have done, and it really has got me thinking. Fair play to the lot of ya! :)
