Im sure people here have noticed that the average first offer is a lot higher than last year. some offers later in the game have started to go over average. (mostly in proveout). It could be down to the fact that people are more determined to win big. so they get higher offers. But after this week they could start to decrease as half of this weeks shows have had 3rd round deals.
Please discuss

I think the Banker should have no limits on what he offers at any stage of the game, as long as it is above the lowest amount left on the board, (eg. if 1p has gone the offer cannot be 5p).

If he wants to chuck in a couple of AMO's then so be it. I think it helps get hr max out of upcoming games. For example, after Anne-Marie's 'inflated' proveout offers, the Sunday player might be thinking that if they go on their offers will be very large, like Anne-Marie's.

The Banker has never said he would never offer an AMO. In Dennis' game he stated he had never offered an AMO before Dennis' (which was wrong, but oh well), but never said he wouldn't do it again.

I love massive offers. I love AMO proveouts - cos I know you lot will be pissed off!

The bankers inflated offers have made the game too safe. People generally are too scared to go away with nothing and only have to wait until the 3rd or 4th round before they'll get a decent offer irrespective of their board. They bail out with a few thousand not caring if they had a board of blues or reds left.

In my opinion the banker should throw in some low offers occassionally to keep players on their toes and remind them its not just a matter of turning up to collect the money.

The higher the proveout offers are, the more the players noses are rubbed in it for dealing early. Good.

the banker these days seems more desperate to buy the box, whereas last year he wanted them to go on a lot and leave with nothing

He was all over the place in March and the beginning of April! Some offers were very good but Kelsie and Christine's were derisory!

I agree, but they were both accepted whereas some of the very good ones were turned down...suggesting he does perhaps know what he's doing!

Perhaps "the Banker" is getting better at reading contestants, leading to more early deals. And while it might not be the contestants' duty to entertain, the Banker aka the production team do have that duty.

Although of course, we don't want the "negative" entertainment of too many blue wins caused by forcing offers. It's just a case of getting the balance right, giving entertaining games but a fair chance for the players to get some decent money as well, unless they're really unlucky.

Yes, the first offers are WAY WAY too high. Take £5k penny's offer for instance. she had an opening offer of £3,680 or whatever it was, after removing the top 2 plus £20,000. Last year, and i think we can go as far as to say - until September, you would get an offer less than £1,500 for that. I think it has something to do with the fact tat the banker used to work out his offers around percentages, whilst now[starting Dec.2006] he works out his offers around rt.Square mean, thus the opening offers of £12,000, £9,000 and £15k when normally less than £5,000 would be expected.

I think he means their fifth offers - £29k on a rubbish/£20k/£75k/£250k board and £6k with rubbish/£3k/£100k.

yeah sorry - all the 1st offers have been about 10k regardless of the board but have sometimes been meanly slashed later game like Tanweer - i'm talking about later offers as well

The offers in the past month or so have been ridiculously high.....to be honest I have stopped watching because of it.

The one that stands out in my mind is a few weeks ago where the guy had the exact same boxes as me in the last 5 - I was offered £9,999.99 (which I took) and he was offered £20,000

I can appreciate that there are some variances but it is becoming a joke.

I take it you mean David who was offered £20k? Well he did have £10k as a back-up but still I agree its a bit high!

But it isn't all like that Pam - since your game, Debbie was offered £9,900 at 5-box with £100k and nothing, and Christine only £6,000 with the same scenario (ironically both had the £100k in their box), so your offer was about average I'd say - and back in October there were two insultingly low offers on that board - £3,250 for Jo and £5,000 for Swappy Barbara - nedless to say they were both no-dealed and disastrous, though Barbara's wouldn't have been if she'd said NO SWAP.....

I was happy with my offer and I think on the whole most offers since the start have been about right - but I think at the time of that guys game there were quite a few really high offers for the board and I got a bit cheesed off :D

My offer was right for the board and I was delighted :D

I will give the show another go and see if the ofers have levelled out again :D
