Some of it may be an act by the players just to not give away anything to the banker that can be used against them...

Mumtaz - she apparently acted totally calm even when Power Five valued boxes were revealed by saying things like "OK. It's just a number."

Andy K - immediately calling the next box after revealing the QM as his first box, just shocking nearly everybody in the studio, including Noel, and also many other antics in his game.

I wonder who else really, really stood out.

£250 Debbie was very irritating - screaming and shouting "That's fine, don't worry, that's great!" At every box opened including the £250k.

Penny also did this, but laughed it off. That's fine, like what Patricia and Sara did when they found out they could have had hundreds of thousands more.

Yeah, Penny was one of the best examples of this, as well as Ooh Sarah who won £10 in December. They both seemed utterly delighted when their gambles didn't pay off...God knows how they'd have reacted if they'd won!

Tingly John was great, even when a big number went, he seemed to forget about it straight away, and just think about getting the next-highest!
And who can forget his quote "I came with nothing, and I'm going home with a POUND!!" like it was the top prize! :)

And Sharron almost seemed to want to win 1p instead of 20 grand! :)

I've often wondered about people's motivation about being on the show because the initial reason must be to win a huge amount of money. But some people genuinely don't seem too bothered about not winning much.

I suppose if you look at it logically everyone is a winner. Even the 1p winners have gone home with 1p more than they came with and had a good time and experience to go with it. Nobody actually loses anything.

If you go into a game with that attitude then I think you are more likely to take a risk and be comfortable with the outcome good or bad. But that depends on an individuals personality. Some people are easy going, risk takers etc whilst others are tense, serious and cautious.

Also personal circumstances will have a great bearing. If you desperately need the money then I think you are much more likely to deal early at a decent offer and be distraught if you end up with peanuts or could have got a lot more out of the game.

We rarely know much about the personal circumstances of the players (except for David who milked it dry in my opinion) though we often get a glimpse of their personality (if they've got any) when they are on the wings.

Of course all this information is like gold-dust to the banker so its understandable when players pretend to be something they are not.

I think Penny had exactly the right attitude to the game.

I'd much rather see a player laugh than cry if a gamble doesn't pay off!
