Watching Bunney's classic game repeat just underlined for me how painfully dull the current line-up of contestants is. There's more charisma in a bowl of cold porridge.

What say you?

Yes I totally agree. I was thinking today how the avergae age on the wings surely must be over 40. We have only two youngsters really - Nathan and Charlie. Then there's Jamie, Kerry and Steve who are probably a bit older and then we've got a load of middle-aged going on pensioners! No offence to anyone, but I think this is a little over-the-top. What are they trying to do for the show?

It's not an age thing in my eyes. Doug, Mary and many other pensioners lately have been the best characters. For me, it's just that the current bunch are so BORING. Look at the line-up during Bunney's game - characters everywhere.

I dont think its anything to do with age and more to do with the blue chants stopping anybody saying anything or any chance of banter with Noel.

I agree to an extent, however, would you rather see a line up of 'boring' people like now, or would you rather have one filled with the likes of Alfie?

Bring back Pat M, I say!

It's hard to judge really as people's opinions on past line-ups are affected by what happened in the players' actual games - I remember everyone complaining that the May/June lot were really boring, but looking back now, there were loads I really liked. Even Christine on Friday was far more entertaining in her own game than she was on the wings...in a month's time we might be looking back and thinking how great this lot were.

That said, there aren't many people's games I'm particularly looking forward to at the moment...Tess's should be good, and, er, that's about it.

Tess and Steve are the only contestants whose games I am looking forward to. In the past, there has always been at least 5 contestants on the wings whose games I was looking forward to.

I agree the current 22 is boring. :( I'm sure it's down to editing and the fact that the blue chants are taking over! The current 22 hit rock bottom just after Steven left, as he was one of my favourites - who from about 2 weeks ago were Doug, Betty, Sheran and Steven... then they all played, leaving me with, for the first time ever on DOND, no favourites in the current 22.

I agree with the age thing - a lot of the older contestants have been the most entertaining - Doug, Betty, Mary, Lance, etc. Although an older 22 does mean there is no "eye candy" for me. I'm sure Doug is very attractive to a certain age range, but not to me!

The current 22 is picking up again, and I like the newbies who have appeared in the past 6 shows - Rita, Alain, Barry, Jackie, Kerry, etc... and some of the ones already there like Nathan and Phil are at least having characters built for them (even if Noel's jokes with Phil are getting boring).

I quite liked the May / June line-up, and was surprised to hear that quite a few people on the forum didn't! :? I hear that people didn't really like July and the first half of September, and that by the time of the summer break just after Giorgio played, there was "Lance and 21 random people". I disagree. There was Lance, Spiky Paul and 20 random people. ;) But seriously, I didn't think that 22 was that bad... I thought it was quite good actually.

Christine was indeed far more entertaining in her game than she was on the wings... but in a month's time, will we be looking back and thinking how great this lot were? I doubt it.

Nathan's should be good, as well as Tess's (or Tess'?) and that's about it. None of them talk!

W1 - David - SILENT
W2 - Charlie - Beautiful, but quiet
W3 - Tess - funny, but only really speaks when she is opening her box
W4 - Joyce - so quiet, fogot she was there
W5 - Nathan - finds it hard to explain
W6 - Philip - I don't think he likes the fact that Noel always goes on about him all the time, but I think he is a big character
W7 - Kerry - Gives good advice
W8 - Philomina - we don't know very much about her, again
W9 - Joe - another fairly ond guy, has lots of reds, bit quite quiet
W10 - Jamie - the daddy of the group, gives some advice but also remains quiet.
W11 - Vikki - Quite new, and quiet for a suprise

Board - getting warn out

E1 - Alain - new - dont know anything about him,
E2 - Rita - seems kind, new and quiet
E3 - Penny - QUIET
E4 - Christine - Positive, but can be quiet
E5 - Tan - Quiet
E6 - Steve - again, Quiet  :( :?
E7 - Dee - she seems nice, but is quiet  literally whispers

I'm mainly tuning in for Tess's hilarious quotes and of course Charlie... ;)
Having said that, it is hard to judge the contestants when we are watching a small portion of what is a 2 hour game. Perhaps it is the style of editing; focusing more on the tension of the game rather than the other players, or maybe we are in a bit of a boring era. But it could be crushed spirits; there have some a lot of extremely disappointing games recently...

I think you could have a point there, a few of the eras of seemingly quiet contestants in the wings have coincided with runs of poor results in the games. Either side of the summer break, for example.

On the other hand, some of the liveliest groups of contestants - March 2006, October 2006, January 2007 - have also been in months when there have been plenty of big wins and Banker beatings. Maybe it's just coincidence but perhaps an improvement in results could change things!

(By the way Unix, Mad Sarah is Sarah H, not Sarah M!)

I agree on the eyecandy front! Bring back Alasdair and Danny!

And yes, I'd rather have the most boring 22 ever than Alfie returning.

They could replace most of the current lot with shop window dummies and I wouldn't notice much difference. There are a few exceptions that catch my eye I suppose :

Rita - same haircut as Mr Spock
Dee - glamorous grandmother
Nathan - big 70s dicso hair
Philip - just enormous
Tess - at least she talks
Kerry - wish she didnt
Barry - its a wig!!

No real characters though. If Noel hadn't picked Phil as his new best friend he wouldn't have spoken a word either.

Come back Bunney - all is forgiven.
