if the player has chosen their box they have infront of them, and the person chosen to play a game is random, how has everyone chosen the box that they want? or do some people get priority pickings over others? or have i just misunderstood something?

At the beginning of each game, every player picks a ball out of a bag with a number 1-22 on it. They are given the box corressponding to their number. So everybody has chosen a box, not just the playing contestant.

At the begining of each game, before the audience is allowed in, a crew member comes round with a bag of numbered ping pong ballsl from 1-22.Whatever number ball you pick out corresponds to the box you end up with in front of you.The selection of contestants is supposed to be random but i wouldn't swear to it.Hope that helps.

That is interesting that they use a machine to decide where the amounts go - but they rely on pingpong balls on which amount you are opening up....

Something smells fishy

They used to use Excel, but it wasn't random.

That's what I thought. Excel used to be used until "Sequencegate" so it's now the ultra-sophisticated balls in bag method. Basic but reliable!

Is Wikipedia always reliable, though?

(playing devils advocate hehe.)

............ except the last player to pick. He/she has *no* choice but to pick whatever's left.

So if that player is chosen to play that day they have in fact 'not chosen a box at random' but had no choice but to accept the number that was left.

Therefore they should answer 'no' to Noels housekeeping question.
