I was wondering, that when there are namesakes, we refer to them with a number in brackets after their name (e.g) John (1) to John (7).

When people have had the same-pronounced name but with a different spelling (e.g. Geoff/Jeff, Pennie/Penny, Lynsey/Lindsay, Rachel/Rachael), are the counts separate? I mean is current Geoff (1) as he's the first with that spelling, or (3) - following Jeff the clown and "Break a leg" Jeff?

I know it's trivial, but I think I've got it mixed up in my stats thread!

I think in the player positions / show counts thread in the stats section, names like Lynsey and Lyndsey are counted as the same name - which is fair enough, however, I think Geoff and Jeff should be treated differently to avoid confusion - in fact, it might be an idea if all the Lynsey / Lyndseys were separate too - after all - Geoff can't really be called Geoff (3) as the other 2 had "Jeff" on their name badge.

Something else that confuses me in that thread is how people who have their surname initial as well still have the number after them - so Dave W is Dave W (4) - giving the impression there have been 4 Dave Ws when there haven't - I think it should be Dave W to avoid confusion... but then is he counted as a David or a Dave? And should he be the 4th if Dave and David counted as two separate names (which I think they should be as that's what's on their name tags)?

There is also confusion as there has actually been 2 Sarah Ms, so Sarah M (5) or whatever implies there have been 5 Sarah Ms when there haven't... but there have been 2. There have also been 3 Dave / David Ws, though...

So many pointless questions and dilemmas.

Hahah, yes...I started updating the Player Positions thread after jonny disappeared...he counted "Leigh" and "Lee" as the same name so I just sort of followed his lead. It does seem a bit weird though.
