Hi,

New member. I know that Noel stays at Lucknam Park whilst filming (although he was in Grittleton at a party on xmas day), but where abouts in Bristol do the contestants stay?

Would have thought that Endemol would block book an entire hotel so as not to upset other guests (assuming that drinking and singing takes place daily?).

Also, do the audience have to just sit there throughout the day without lunch or breaks? I know it's filmed down at the Paintworks, not the best place in Bristol.

Thanks

Julian

Endemol put me up in a hotel in Bristol for when I did Brainteaser and Memory Bank. Wonder if it is the same one? Was quite grand.

They don't block book - there are other guests.

Also there is a different audience from the morning than the afternoon. The aternoon lot see two shows and get a break of about 20 mins between.

It's always mystified me why the identity of the hotel seems to be as tightly guarded a secret as the identity of the banker!! ;-) . It is only ever refered to as "the hotel" and no-one seems to be allowed to mention it by name. I suppose it must be in the contestants written contract with Endemol (along with the other secrecy rules) not to reveal this info, but there must be somebody in the know who can tell us somewhere - someone must have seen something unusual at a hotel somewhere near Bristol - 22 people getting paralyetic in a bar!! It's not like we're all going to immediately travel down to the West Country, camp outside the doors and demand autographs. I certainly won't anyway, I can't speak for the rest of the forum!

I wonder if Endemol have shares in the hotel concerned! ;)

You'd think it would be good for business. I don't understand why someone hasn't let the location slip before now! :-)

It keeps me awake at night! :ponder:

Do you really not think that they'd have hoards of people trying to spot the contestants? There's plenty of saddos that would (not saying forum members would, of course, but some might).

I think they would be more worried about the press finding out about big winners and getting candid shots for the tabloids

Hi suez,

You need to be carfeul then with your contestant interviews on your site because it does mention a certain chain of hotels in one of them.....

The press clearly already know exactly where the hotel is! The Guardian does anyway, even if they didn't mention any names. :D

There are only so many hotels of the correct size with enough rooms and facilities. It is not giving away any secrets to know that it is part of a national chain. The determined fan could probably find out which one it is quite easily. It's not likely to be a Travelodge (Endemol aren't that cheap!), so there aren't that many suspects left to choose from as any google for "Bristol hotels" will testify!

Without mentioning names and informants, I've been put out my misery now anyway and my life is infinately richer. :-D

Now can someone please tell me who the banker is and I can die happy! ;)

Given that some people actually sit here on this forum discussing who hugs who first at the end of the show, I would say it is VERY wise to keep the hotel a secret. It's scary stuff.

I did a bit of searching the other day and I think its between the Clifton and the Washinton Hotels, its probably neither but they seem to fit the bill.
