I have long suspected that Noel knows whats in the contestants box. today makes me suspect it more. Noel constantly saying box 14 has never had a power five amount. He said it at least 5 times. which convinced me that there was at least £35,000 in his box. he did the same in Barbaras game when there was £100,000 there. he has also said other things in an attempt to make people win big money. As much as i like Noel i am starting to get sick of it.
I know this is a controversial theory so please don't get angry at me for writing this

I don't believe he does, if he did then he would be a very good actor and he should say these words at the start:

"The independent adjudicator is the only person who knows where the money is and is a very good friend of the banker!" :D

nah he doesn't have a scooby what is in the boxes - he would be up *beep* creek without a paddle career wise if he was found out - no way would he take that risk.

when I was in the chair I kept examining his face hoping for a clue - trust me if there had been one then I would have seen it :D I know he was pleased that I dealt but no way did he know.

He is an honest decent bloke who is in the position of having to present a show and play devils advocate - he was stating a fact about box 14. He also has to build the moment and create some tension and atmosphere.

Pam

I'm not sure... I don't think he does, although there have been times when Noel's encouraged a no deal and there's been a high number in the box... but then again, he always seems to encourage no dealing, so I'm not sure. Overall, I don't think he does know what's in any of the boxes.

I kind of wondered in Gabrielle (1)'s game...he offers her the swap, she says she doesn't want to, and he keeps going on about it until she does. Given that the swap was the right decision, and she wanted the money to give to charity, I did wonder if Noel was pushing her into swapping...probably not, though. I don't really see any need for him to know what's in the boxes, and as Pam says, it would cause too much trouble if it were ever found out.

I really can't decide whether he knows or not. It would be unfair if he did. I'm not even sure if many members of the production team know. Has anyone ever figured out who the mysterious independant edudacator is?

Noel has referred to them in the past as "a woman who lives in Bristol".

The fact about Box 14 is interesting - Stuart and Don also had box 14 at the table (with £100 and £1,000 respectively), and I don't think he ever mentioned the fact that it hadn't contained a Power 5 value, yet today Alex had £50k and he didn't shut up about it!

Hmmm...............

Maybe they edited it out of the other shows because it didn't have a Power 5 value in it?! :?

AND of course who can forget the beginning of 1p Trevor's game, when Noel stated that Nick was the only member of the 1p club and we didnt want any more members, then the 1p was brought to the table and won?

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Courtesy of six crap offers in a sequence game, obviously.

I don't think Noel knows, though I'm not certain. I'm more convinced the Banker knows.

rico7, that's a contender for quote of the year so far.

To be fair, Noel mentioned Nick in practically every single episode back then. That was perhaps the only good thing about Trevor winning 1p...it put an end to all the "Nick" talk.

When the £250,000 has been on the table he has said very subtle things to suggest its there, but it could still be a coincidence

Yes, and this is the point. The person editing the show is presumably doing so after they know the game's outcome. And knowing the outcome is undoubtedly going to influence (either consciously or subconsciously) their decision into what stays in the programme and what gets edited out.

So when we see Noel going on about Box 14 never having brought a Power 5 amount to the table before, it's not because he knows what's in the box. It's because the editor has decided to keep those comments in, knowing how relevant they are to the outcome of the game.

when they say that it sort of ruins it as it will give clues as to what is in the box

Good point there actually - the hints are dropped courtesy of what makes the edit and what doesn't... which produces both what the DoND blog called 'Kevin Keegan moments' that seem to predict the future (e.g. 'It's only a matter of time before we hit one of the Power 5'... £250k goes next box) and the suspicious coincidences we're talking about.

Those of you who've seen the show live - has Noel made references implying things will happen that then don't, which then didn't make the final edit?
