I'm a huge fan of Noel, but I'm getting increasingly annoyed by the way he puts down contestants who dealt too early in gameplay terms, even though many of them made the right choice statistically for the board at the time. Is it acceptable for him to make them feel bad like that at the end? Don't we need a blend of dealers and no dealers to make the show interesting and unpredictable?

its not fair to criticise them. if they dealt they obviously needed the money. and its the point of the game that some of the time people deal too early

Noel is suppose to be neutral but at the moment, he has a funny way of showing it. :?

I'm a big fan of Noel and his randomness :P but I think he needs to watch some repeats of the first few shows and the general attitude to money on them. Some of his comments recently have been fair but just not needed at the time :?

Yes it is irritiating, as he should be encouraging. You don't see him say (for instance) - "Dennis, what a prat you were for playing to the end and taking home 50p, you squandered the chance of £15,000 which was a huge offer for the board you had, you should be ashamed of yourself"!! :)

I commented on this in today's show thread, as what Noel did today was wrong in my opinion.

I don't think it is acceptable for Noel to be taking the contestants on guilt trips when they deal too soon.

As I have mentioned in today's show thread, I do not personally believe it is Noel who is the one who wants to say this stuff. It goes against all his beliefs as outlined in his "Positively Happy" book - whereby he advises you should always look forward and never look back and / or have regrets.

However, I do think that with 30 years' TV experience under his belt - he has the right to tell Endemol he doesn't want to take contestants on guilt trips when they deal too soon!

They seem to be forgetting that the show is about dealing as well as no dealing, and in many cases when the player's dealt too early, the only way to get the high money would've been to take an extremely brave gamble, which most wouldn't.

Noel himself goes on about focussing, suggesting people should not get lost in the game and should deal at a sensible time, yet he encouraged today's silliness in Alex's game, and actually Alex was focussed and concentrating and he made a wise decision to deal on what was a mathematically extremely unstable board.

Something else I should add is that Noel and / or the crew seem to forget the importance of money - £18,000 in today's game for example, is a huge sum of money, yet all Noel could do was go on about the £21,000 offer and the £50,000 in Alex's box.

It's also making Noel look bad as he appears to be going against his own beliefs which I mentioned in my previous post.

It also makes the player look like an idiot and feel guilty for dealing, when in fact in many cases, they have done a very wise thing by dealing, as the board was mathematically unstable, like Alex today.

Someone should tell Noel that £18,000 is a lot of money. I know that sort of money is probably pocket change to him, but it isn't to everyone. What annoys me is when the player is visably upset that they've dealt too early and Noel just makes it worse. Although, sometimes I think he actively encourages them to deal. For example, Millie on Tuesday. I think (I could be wrong though) if it wasn't for Noel, she would probably have carried on to the end and won £75,000.

And with Endemol and Channel 4 both in the firing line over Celebrity BB, plus fears over the expansion of gambling very much in the media spotlight with the supercasino decision, there could and should be trouble ahead...

Noel has to go. If Noel is being made to say these things when he doesn't believe them, he needs to jump; if he really means every word he says, he needs to be pushed.

The music that plays during the proveout in the US version just played. How very fitting.

The show seems to have forgotten the true value of money, and again, this is not wise for a young audience.

It is also putting Noel in a very bad light, who as I have said in other threads, is acting, it would appear, against his beliefs and is acting out of character.

As I've mentioned in another thread - the shows currently being shown were recorded in the last week of filming before their month long Chritsmas break. I wonder if Noel is encouraging no dealing to ensure they don't get a run of early deals due to the "I need money for Christmas" effect?

I've heard that apparently, the contestants who recorded their games just before Christmas kept having to be reminded that they couldn't say they wanted the money for Christmas, as the episodes won't be shown until February...
