Personally i think endemol pays through the phone calls made from viewer competition and from other shows like big brother.

According to the show producer they get over 350,000 calls every day so I guess that more than covers their expenses.

I am sure I heard that the average win since they started is less than 10k so they must be quids in.

I'm sure they've got plenty of money left to cover Noel's fee and putting the contestants up in the hotel!

As well as the LTL they obviously get a lot of money from advertising and selling their syndicated shows. They are a company with an international base, they do have a lot of money! :P

I think this proves that the banker isn't really that concerned with saving money! His "role" may be to save as much money as possible, but of course in reality, it's to make the best games and to make sure the programme gets as many viewers as possible! ;)

I seriously doubt Noel would want to risk giving up a quarter of a million pounds! Granted, he's probably one of the richest men in Britain, but I'd be surprised and amazed if he's that generous.

The Banker's role is to maximise profits; though he not only does this by minimising expenditure but also by maximising viewers; advertising fees and LTL profits.

Exactly. The money is significant enough (especially for the timeslot) that minimising it is important, but advertising revenue can still cover it comfortably. That said, if the Banker is TOO obviously a televisual construct making obviously irrational offers, some might turn off *raises hand*

They probably get funding for the government as well. Although i think most of it - as said, comes from viewer phone in.

oh yeah - but on a normal monday, say, or in fact any other day, are you telling me what it says on the entry bit at each break, that there are a max of 30 actual entries per day, is wrong??

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

I'm almost certain that the money comes from the revenue generated by advertising and the viewer's competition - as with many programmes, this is why they are so bothered about getting as many viewers as possible - more viewers means more money!

I wouldn't be surprised if a major record company has shares in Endemol - Record Companies have shares in everything, you'd be surprised how much they "own".

Of course - the adverts and the sponsorship with BT I'm sure that raises a fair amount!

they limit each caller to 30 goes - I think that was after that guy racked up over £10,000 in debt.

I have never called so I am not ssure how it all works - all i know is I was told by the producers that they got at least 350,000 every day - which adds up to a lot of money.
