Was it me or did today's audience seem "louder" than normal from the third part of the show onwards? As it seemed the editors had added a applause track (a'la canned) at the last minute, especially at the end as you barely could hear Noel's words of wisdom.

I thought that to that the clapping sounded a bit different

It sounded more like a stadium than the DOND studio.

Maybe Rich put them all to sleep, so they had to add in a fake audience...

There are often a lot of students from bristol so perhaps they were being particularly badly behaved ???

Or maybe the audience mikes malfunctionned and didn't pick it up enough ?

I was gonna mention this actually! I noticed it from the beginning of the show, the clapping was blatantly canned but I don't know why, the audio was completely different as well, the theme tune etc had hardly any bass, it was weird.

Hopefully it'll go back again tomorrow!

from what l saw there were more than a fair share of senior persons in the audience perhaps because june is one.maybe it was canned clapping because they couldnt clap loud enough.

If the recording schedule hasn't changed, I think Friday show is afternoon recording (larger proportion of older audience members) and Sat/Mon are recorded in the evening (larger proportion of p*ssed students!)
