To stop multiple threads of the same sort of thing I dcecided to do a guide (not because i dont have a life), there are probably lots of things that need adding and altering.

General show guide
For a general show guide check the front of this site, or click here

How to get on the show
To become a contestant you have to be 18 or over and be able to get time off to appear on the show. To become a contestant on the show you must go through an application process. To start off with you can either ring 09013 263 244 (although this phone line is only open for a limited time) or you can e-mail Endemol at dond@endemoluk.com and request an application form, Endemol well the send you an application through the post or by e-mail, once you’ve filled it in send it back and hope Endemol contact you. If Endemol do contact you, you get the chance to go to a regional audition where you’d be asked some general questions and spend some time in front of the camera. Endemol well then decide whether you’re going to be on the show or not and well contact you to offer you a place on the show.

Filming Deal or no Deal
Deal or no Deal is filmed at Paintworks studios in Bristol Paintworks Studios. Episodes of Deal or no Deal are usually filmed far in advance, as shown in this wonderful table ;) .
Deal or no Deal is filmed on weekdays for 2 weeks and then there is normally a 2 week break, when they are filming they film 3 shows a day at 11:00am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm with small breaks in between (this used to be 1:45pm, 5:00pm and 8:00pm) for people to take loo breaks and for Noel to put on a new, brighter shirt. Episodes have to be filmed well in advance as many run on for 2 to 3 hours each and need to be edited down to fit in to the allotted time slot.

The Audience
The audience of Deal or no Deal is made up of around 100 to 150 people. To apply for audience tickets ring 01173160860 or e-mail Endemol at dond_audience@endemoluk.com and as an added bonus audience tickets are free. You have to be 18 or over to be able to go and see Deal or no Deal filmed live. When you go to see Deal or no Deal filmed you have the opportunity to watch 2 or 3 shows on that day.

Contestant accommodation
As the contestants come from all over the country they have to have a place to stay and this is the ‘infamous’ hotel in Bristol which is just down the road from the studios. Noel doesn’t stay at the hotel and might not have ever visited it. Every day before filming they all get on a coach and drive down to the studios for that days filming. When they aren’t filming they all leave the hotel and go back home.

Contestant selection
The production team at Deal or no Deal select the players for each day, which is why most contestants do around 22 shows and the contestant’s family members are around for their show. Once the contestant’s name comes up on the board they have 5 minutes to put on a microphone, a bit of make up and calm down a bit.

Amount selection
An independent adjudicator puts the amounts in the boxes before each show. Up to April, Microsoft Excel’s pseudorandom number generation function was used to randomly sort the amounts in the boxes, but between the 23rd January and 4th March several shows had exactly the same amounts in the same numbered boxes, this was brought to the attention of the production crew and then sorted to the system they have now of drawing balls out of a bag (1p = Ball 1etc).

Box selection
A bag full of balls numbered 1 - 22 is passed along the contestants and they all pick a ball out the bag and the number of the ball is the number box they receive for that game.

Deal or no Deal Merchandise
There are a lot of Deal or no Deal things up for sale which you can find here and here. Also you can see who supplies Deal or no Deal here, and former contestant Dave Woolins site merchandise here. There are a lot of things that are not up for sale as well, including the crew’s shirts, the boxes, the cards with the amounts on and the mugs on the pound table to name a few.

Has the 1p or £250,000 ever be won?
The £250,000 has so far never be won, but the 1p has been won 8 times by:
Nick
Trevor
Fadil
Dave E
Sally
Connel
Giorgio
Sharron

Good idea that and an easy to read layout. While I knew a lot of that info already from reading various other threads it was still interesting and a good idea to have it all in the one place as a reference to new people and people who are interested to learn a bit more about DOND.

That is a fantastic idea Tom :D

This could be made a sticky for the forum and used as a FAQ section where new members or guests can get all the information about the show in one place.

Well done on creating it, as said it's well laid out and easy to follow. :D

I like the links to further information as well.

Its amazing what you can do when your meant to be revising for exams :P

I only created it so we didnt get multiple threads over time and just makes it a little easier for people to find info about the show.

It's a brilliant guide Tom, well done. I notice you refer to my filming dates table as a "wonderful table", so I'm bound to like your guide instantly, aren't I? ;) No, but seriously - it is a very useful guide for newbies! :D
