Will his birthday be acknowledged in today's show? You'll have to tune in and see if it is. In honour of Noel, I've created a poll giving everyone a chance to say when they first saw or heard Noel on TV or radio. :D

Yes, happy birthday, Noel, and here's to the next 58 years!

I first became aware of him on Noel's House Party. Really loved the show as a kid, every week when he did that NTV bit, I prayed that it would be me...

Swap Shop for me and i have idolised him ever since :) Even got to meet him when he filmed at the RAF Museum during Noels House Party ;) What i would do too meet him again i was only a teen at the time.

I first became aware of Noel during his time on Radio 1 and as a Top of The Pops presenter. I was just a small child so had to negotiate with my parents to stay up specially to watch it. I then got into Swap Shop as well which Noel was perfect for. Wishing him a great birthday! I first became aware of Noel on House Party... and all his antics with Mr. Blobby - when Mr. Blobby was at his height of fame in 1994... when I was 6 years old! So that is really when I first became aware of Noel.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Noel Edmonds!!! 58 years of excellence. ;)

I hope he likes my advent calendar pic for today (thanks Rico for the plug ;) ).

I remember the first time seeing Noel was on House Party.


I also remember Noel and Blobby coming over here, something which was sponsored by Vauxhall but included gunging of the audience :twisted:

Happy birthday Noel!

Since I'm an American, I hadn't heard of Noel until this year. I hardly watch any TV, just DVD's. So one time, I decided to go to YouTube for US version of DOND, just to see what the fuss was all about. That's when I came across the "last ten-minute episodes" of the UK version. I'm not sure if the comparison is valid, but he reminds me of how Dick Clark was on "Pyramid". Both are fantastic hosts of shows, knowing not only how to analyze how each game is going down, but also in showing empathy and humor to make it a very enjoyable watch.

Interestingly enough, I've noticed his life seems to parallel with Clark in some ways. DOND is to Pyramid as Top of the Pops is to American Bandstand. Also, he does not look 58. I wonder if he also gets jokes about how he doesn't look like he's aging.

Anyway, happy b-day, Noel! Hope you continue to have amazing success!

i first became aware of noel when he was hosting telly addicts, can't remember how old i was then, but seven seems about right...

Firstly, Happy Birthday Noel!!! :-D

Secondly, I voted for Telly Addicts as I was 2 when it started in 1985 and IIRC, Telly Addicts started before the Saturday Roadshow which was the forerunner of Noel's House Party.

I also can't remember The Late, Late Breakfast Show as that finished when I was 3 in 1986 and I wasn't around in the Radio 1, TOTP and Swap Shop eras.
