Ok I was just thinking but do you think the show would of worked as well even if they had a smaller jackpot of £50,000 and say 16 boxes. Personally for me it's the fact they offer so much money that makes it more exciting for me especially when you get a player who takes the chances to win the really big money. If the jackpot was only £50,000 it would lower the scope of the offers and it wouldn't offer as big a risk as the show does now.

Well the evidence of games we've seen shows that most players who have very unlucky games and wipe out nearly all the big amounts early on just end up going to the end and taking whatever's in their box.

It's harder to make testing offers when the big two or three have gone, and I think on say a £50k board we would see most players going to the final offer at least, and several jackpot winners within the first year. I know some on here would like that but it would become a bit predictable.

Of course it doesn't always take huge money to make a classic game, we've seen apparent trainwreck games where the contestant has recovered to get £10,000 or £15,000 at the end, which have had as much tension and excitement as a lot of much bigger money games. But we wouldn't have the variety of games we see now, and the top prize wouldn't have that something special if it was won every couple of months or so.

It wouldn't be as exciting with 50K as the jackpot.

I agree, but only because we're used to seeing the £250k as the main prize. If it had started off with £50k as the jackpot we'd be used to it and would still find the game as exciting as we do now.

Likewise if the show had started off with a bigger jackpot...

The show was meant to have the jackpot £100,000, wouldnt be the same.

I think the thing with some of those weak games that still have good money available is that if the top prize was lower, those games would be for almost trivial money and would be dull.

A lot depends on the stability of the starting board too. That's the big difference between the US and UK versions.
