What show would make you the happiest if you were the contestant? Dealing for £20,000 when you discover that £250,000 is in your box at the end, or a game where your highest offer is £10,000, and that's the banker's second offer, after which you have relentless misfortune but you no deal every subsequent offer (all less than £3,000), and win £3,000 with a final two of £500 and £3,000. Do you want the higher amount of cash, or the cudos of playing a courageous game with a moderate consolation amount at the end?

£20k with £250k in my box. At the time of the game, I'd probably be far more disappointed than in the other situation, but once I'd been home a few days I'd be more than happy with £20k...much more so than £3k. (Although getting to stand in a phone box with Jaye* might be fun.)

*As well as Pat, Patrick and Cocky Bill... :?

Well obviously given the choice beforehand you would take the higher sum of money. But if you had a pretty crap game and got away with £3,000 then you would have no regrets, just feeling it wasn't your day but you took away something worthwhile.

£20,000 when the box turned out to contain £250k would be harder to take immediately afterwards, as you could have done something about it by having the courage to go on. Unless the gamble was a crazy one that is. So I'll take a £20k deal with £250k in my box, but on a board with four blues in the last five!

I would prefer to win the 3k, because I am not a person who could live with regrets. I am a gambler also, so I think, I would gamble :D

I think it all depends on the state of the board and whether I felt lucky or not. For arguement's sake, if I had a board consisting of 1p, 50p £5, £250, £50,000, £75,000, £100,000 and £250,000 and had an offer of £20,000. I would probably no deal. But if I was having relentless bad luck thorughout and only had £3,000, £75,000, £250,000 and the rest blues, I would deal at £20,000.

Then the situation for you would not have arisen as you'd have won £250k!!! :smt023 :smt039

I'd rather stick it through to the end, and if I did win 3k minus, at least I knew It just wasn't my lucky day, and the odds were against me. Dealing for £20,000 when I really really wanted to go on, then have the £250,000, I would be more heartbroken.

Probably the £20k deal - especially if it was on a board like Dave Woollin's or Debbie's - I don't think I'd have any regrets if I knew there were no safety nets.

Except maybe why didn't I pick different boxes so I had a safety net - I bet Germaine or Debbie were thinking that!

Which is why I would have a system like Geordie's! :D

the 3K thingy, that is the main reason why i no deal to almost every offer.

i would be very gutted to have dealt at something meaningful and to rub it in and to think i could've won more than 10 times that

This is a really hard one... like Dan said, at the time, you'd probably rather play the game and end up with £3k... although with a highest offer of £10,000, it'd probably be a rather boring game, anyway.

At least if you dealt at £20k or thereabouts with £250k in your box, you would create a very tense ending to the show with the huge proveout offers, and your true emotions would show (which is always a good thing as the viewer gets emotionally involved in your game, as well as you). You may be kicking yourself for dealing too early, but in the long-term, £20k is a nice chunk of money to take home from what is a priceless experience - as many ex-contestants have said (in fact one did in the chatroom tonight) - money can't buy the experience that is DOND! :D

And thank goodness it can't, or you'd probably be completely skint right now... ;)

I would hate to have the £250k and deal at £20,000 so I would rather have go for it if I recieved low offers and get a nice sum of £3,000
