It wasn't the first time that's happened during a game. I can't remember who the player was but their spouse said they were a 'no dealer' to another audience member and the banker picked up on it, then increased the offer.

Eyes and ears everywhere that banker :suspect:

I think it just about proves that there is a production team working as the banker, and one of the team's job is probably to listen in on the conversation the family and friends in the audience are having.

I didn't understand why everyone was treating that as a bad thing...surely the fact that Madeleine was apparently happy to go away with nothing should have scared the Banker, as it meant she was more likely to go on to the end (which she did) and possibly win the £50k in her box?

Yes, but the banker knew she didn't care what she won, so he could've forced her on with low offers, hoping she'd win a low amount, which with that game, looked likely.

That was my take - so much for the Banker having a likkle hideyhole somewhere. It pointed out that he's in the gallery.

Not so much that someone's got a job earwigging - just that all of the audio streams are available to whoever's working the sums out. Also points out where he's sat - right next to the audio mix position sharing the sound engineer's feed, I wouldn't wonder (They'd be well hacked off if the full babble was echoing round the gallery.)

So, the Banker is sat in that white OB van outside the studio itself.

Just thought it was strange that Glen slipped up that way.

Well, they already gave the game away that the show isn't live (as they like to imply), when Noel went outside in Alisdair's game and it was light - although he did say it was cold (in early October? :? It was warm then...), so perhaps they like to give the impression now it's recorded earlier in the day or something... I wonder how they'll handle the Christmas shows, with regard to this?

Perhaps Glenn's slip up is also part of the revealing of the Banker! (Although I don't think it was a slip up myself, Noel often refers to how the Banker can see and hear everything that goes on in the Dream Facory as he calls it.)

It might be filmed earlier to cut down on the "illnesses" that keep players off the game. Must be murder playing with a hangover! ;)

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

The production gallery - that's the technical name for where all the technobods sit and actually cut the program together.

If you know anything about how a TV show is produced - particularly with reference to the sound - you'll know that the gallery is very well soundproofed from the studio floor, and that it's very rare for unedited sound to be allowed away from either the gallery or studio floor itself. Certainly, sound engineers are paranoid about radio mike sound leaking on-air, and they'll mute the feed sooner rather than later (especially after one poor unfortunate female presenter visitied the likkle girl's room with her mike un-muted and made some very un-ladylike sounds live and on-air - and yes, the sound engineer got his cards and coppers).

Un-edited sound from an audience radio mike is almost never going to be fed back to the studio floor on loudspeakers unless said person is directly involved on-air. It may well, however, be recorded in the audio streams on the Avid for use during the edited program.

Since the Gallery doesn't appreciate all audio streams being audible at once (there's enough chat going on up there anyway) there's usually a producer involved in cuing the director in on anything in the audio that might be worth a listen - he sits right beside the sound engineer, and can get hands-on on the desk immediately, and shares a headset feed with the sound guy.

Since he's about the only person (other than the sound guy, whose main task is to concentrate on the main on-camera feeds) who can drop-in on any mic feed, you can glan a whole bundle of information from that one give-away line. That's why it's an uncharactersistic slip-up. It pretty much confirms the identity of at least one member of the team that is the Banker.
