Sorry in advance if this has been posted before (searched but couldn't find) or if it's on the wrong part of the forum.

My DOND DVD arrived on Saturday, so we played it Sat night. Was really excited at the beginning. But really disappointed as I played it. Why does it take so long to choose your box - have to go through them all! Thought you could use the number pad to select one, but no! Why didn't they do a front screen so you can select it that way (the same sort of screen that appears when you "play the banker". I found it tedious. Having said that, my partner "won" the £250,000 on the first go! I think I won £750. Boo

Anyone find any quicker ways to play it, or is the slow select way the only way?

Unfortunately, the only way to choose the boxes is the slow way - however, I have heard that it doesn't matter which box you choose - the same amount will still come up anyway in a particular game - so if the first five values in the first round of the game you are playing are, for argument's sake - 1p, 10p, 50p, £1 and £5 - it doesn't matter whether you choose boxes 1, 9, 3, 16, 14 or 5, 7, 9, 22 and 1 - you will get 1p, 10p, 50p, £1 and £5 appearing anyway.

Obviously that was just an example, and to put it simply, you might as well choose the boxes in order - 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. - as it's much quicker than selecting the box you want!

Overall, I think the DVD has been put together extremely well - bearing in mind that they had to go to the trouble of organising a time when 22 ex-contestants, Noel and crew could meet up (it was probably done some time in July after they had stoppped recording for the summer) to film especially the box openings for the DVD.

Well done Endemol! ;)

Ah, cheers for that. If this is the case, then I feel a lot better about it as it will speed it up. Kind of takes away from the "real feel" a bit, but there you go.

Yes, it was good having real ex-contestants for the box openings, but your comment about Endemol "going to the trouble" makes it sound a bit like a charity job! Endemol/Channel 4 will, of course make money from it, and I doubt if the venture was purely philanthropic on the part of the contestants ;)

Cheers again for the tip :D

Haha, yes, I just thought I had better counteract a slight criticism with slight praise. ;)

:x But that's terrible! It means you've got no control over the game whatsoever. I'm furious if this is the case.

Well....how do you know? OK, you know because H just said so, but when you're actually playing the game I can't see how it makes any difference. It's not like they're conning you out of real money or anything.

I read that there are sequences in the game, i.e. the DVD player randomly loads a pre-programmed game when you insert the DVD... so it doesn't matter which box you pick, the values will appear in the order according to the order they appear in the pre-programmed game.

I could be wrong about this, like I said, I'm only quoting what another forum member wrote, but it does make sense - I mean DVD players only have a certain capability of randomising - like the Millionaire DVD - apparently, people have said that they have sometimes had the same lot of questions come up twice.
