I think theres too many high numbers in your version for my liking, as each contestant would be likely to go away with a large amount of money anyway, with little risk unless they are incredible unlucky or a foolish risk-taker. I personally like it the way it is - if the stakes are raised too much you perhaps would lose the realism of how much each of the current values of money that are offered mean to the contestant. It is their look of joy (or dare I say it, despair) that makes the show what it is, and I think with a load of very high monetary values contestants would become overly greedy, and this would detract from the show as a whole. Keep DoND as it is, I say!!

Ditto.

Why change the format of a show you watch every day? (and in my opinion, just manages to cover the 45 minutes)

I'm still against padding it out to an hour for the prime time slot (although I am more than willing to be proved wrong)

The numbers that are offered on the show are so great because they are figures that we can relate to.

Okiems show was one of the best. Was it bacause he won a life-changing amount of money? No, it was bacause we all loved the drama and the reaction that his gamble provided. As much as I love the idea of someone getting the top prize, I think most of us watch the show for the human reaction. Upping the prize would make no difference.

I think those amounts are too high for C4.

The first question we'll ask is 'how much can Channel 4 afford to pay?'.

The simple answer is 'more than you think'. Let's not forget that Channel 4 gave away £1m before ITV (in a TFI Friday feature designed as a spoiler against Millionaire). Let's also not forget that Channel 5 (yes, Channel 5) offered £1m way back in 2001 with their version of the US show Greed. If they can offer a million than so can Channel 4.

How much they'd actually pay, however, depends on the rest of the prize tree - certainly the upper middle - and the structure. The 26-case structure, with offers after every case at the end, will tend to lead to big wins on a more regular basis, because the risks are lower than in our version at the end. Also, the UK version has a huge gap between the top prize and the rest - the top prize isn't more than double the next highest in any other version on a permanent basis (though it was for the US version on the last two nights of the rolling jackpot). The US tree before the rolling jackpot was much more generous, and that tended to encourage players to gamble.

As a rule, though, you can probably assume that the average win will be, at most, 15% of the jackpot (the equivalent for the UK version to date is less than half that, because of the 5-3-3-3-3-3 structure and the isolated £250k). Therefore, a £1m Deal or No Deal would be giving away, at most, £150k per show, and most likely less.

That would put it in the same bracket as other big-money game shows of the last few years. Millionaire tends to give away £100k per week. The Vault gave away about £100k per week by definition. Boys And Girls offered £100k every week, I think. Shafted was in the same bracket for the short time it ran.

If Channel 4 can spend big money for the rights to show top US shows to audiences of less than 3.5m, it can afford to offer £100k per episode for a game show that will easily draw more than that.

I think the amounts are perfect as they are; there's a good mix of them and they make for an exciting game. As has already been said, if there are too many high amounts it would make things far easier and take the excitement out of it.

:D

i think the amounts are fine as they are. If i had to change some though, i'd alter the numbers leading up to £250k, so maybe £150k and £100k and £50k, but cut the £75k

i think 22 is definitely enough

And that would be worse than the £250,000 at the end after accepting something like £20,000. I can just imagine the scenes.

P.S. - I got the idea of Paint-drawn boxes from Aaron Brock, and the box up there is based on that one except the box is open not closed.
