I've noticed now that a lot more stats sites are now freely quoting the name of player 14 and their game, including this one. Wikipedia now has the full details of his game up including what's left of a lively discussion on the subject, including such gems as "His name and the details of his game are NOT privileged information. What he has managed to strongarm other sites into doing is irrelevant to what Wikipedia does. The game has been broadcast, the details are in the public domain whether he likes it or not."

As far as I can see, the only site that actually still censors Player 14's identity is "Screw the Banker". Are there any others? What happened to change things on this site, as Kestral himself at one point fell into line with this voluntary name witholding thing, though he clearly doesn't any more.

When did it not become a secret any more? Did someone take legal advice or something?

To me at least, Madie will always be "Player 14"!!!

Impressive list...completely pointless, but impressive!

Bother's Bar still censors Madie as well, although considering details are on Wikipedia and his game was repeated on More4 in August, most people know about it, so the whole 'Player 14' mystery is pretty much dead. I saw it on original transmission, though, so no 'mystery' for me.

Yeah, I think the More4 repeat marked the end of the Madie censorship business.

For me, I didn't publish Player 14's stats because I didn't have them at the time. I started watching the show around mid-December and didn't start this site until early January when I then began making notes of the players games.

Later on I added the stats section here giving full breakdowns of every players game, but didn't have Madie's as it was unavailable at the time. When his show was broadcast again, it enabled me to get the stats and provide the game breakdown.
