Why does the formatting of the winner's name change from day to day? Is it a secret code?

Oh, and another thing, the prizes up for offer has changed dramatically too:

It used to be £500, £1,000 and £2,000, I think, and this was upped to £1,000, £2,000 and £5,000 on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and this changed to Fridays, I think.

Since season 2, there has been some continuity - the prizes up for offer are always £1,000, £2,000 and £10,000... but recently, there have been some random ones for no reason - e.g. upping it to £15k, and yesterday, it was £2k, £3k and £10k!

They're probably experimenting to see which amounts get the most callers on which days...either that, or it's Noel's latest competition!

Yeah, that's a secret code along with the formatting of the winner's name. Oh, and the "competiton closed" caption they use.

Urgh, I hate that, because whenever you see the "Phone lines are now closed" caption, you know the player's about to deal...it's ruined a few games lately!

Someone said before that that was just merely coincidence, but I don't think it is.

I'm sure someone somewhere has a statistic on shows where that caption has been shown before someone has dealt! lol.

OK, in all seriousness, I was reading the FAQ on the Channel 4 website which says that they deal with Web Entries the same as phone calls....I am never sure this is true! At the end of the day, someone has spent a lot of money trying to call the show, and someone else can enter for (essentially) free? Doesn't seem right to me.

The viewer in Ron's game got £20k in the rollover!

I suppose they use a different amounts etc... because they don't want to be repetetive. Also the show has made money and I bet ratings have dropped somewhat so they are upping the funds.

Otherwise i don't normally bother myself with it... I used to enter free but it takes too long just to be successful!

On Wednesdays and Fridays, it was £1,000, £2,000 and £10,000. Then they included Saturdays. Any other day was £500, £1,000 and £5,000.

It was originally Wednesdays and Saturdays, but as Saturday ratings sucked, they changed it to Wednesdays and Fridays from December 2005. Then Saturday's were re-added when they went primetime in March.

£1,000, £5,000 and £10,000 today!
