Dont ask for advice from the other contestants if you are going to do the oppsite to what they say. Makes you look like a fool.

How can you know if you will be doing the opposite to their advice until after you've asked? :?

Fair enough you are asking a fellow contestant for advice, but quite often I imagine that the player has a fair idea in their mind what they are going to do, but would just like to hear another opinion, whether they take that advice is ultimately their own decision. It also gives them a little more thinking time rather than perhaps making a snap decision and possibly getting caught up in the moment...

I also think that they are made to fill up the time, especially on sunday shows. It also helps getting advice and opinions from other people to stop the greed taking over. I've seen that happen before!

I can honestly say that when you are in the chair things are totally different than when you are on the wings - and you do really rely on the advice your friends in the wings give you. :D

I don't want to give to much away but I was like a rabbit trapped in teh headlights and would not have got through my game had it not been for the support and advice from the guys on the wings. :D

Dennis, in particular, really helped bring me back to reality.

The other thing you have to realise is that it would be a very boring show if the personin the crazy chair just played as a solo and never asked for audience or wing participation - no one would warm to them and the show would be very short. remember when you are in the chair it is your duty to give the producers something to work with.

I am not going to name names but there was a show recently where the producers were unsure if they would have enough footage to give to Channel Four as they only got 37 minutes of show (no edits)

It works either way. What happens if you go along with the advice that other contestants give you and it goes horribly wrong? The player has to make their own decision based on whether or not they can afford to take the risk. As a player, it must be nice to have the other contestants to support you, give you advice and if needs be, bring you back down to earth and help you focus on the situation. Pam or any other contestants will confirm this, I would think that the contestants must become really close friends and want the best result for each other.

Interesting that an entire unedited game lasted only 37 minutes once. I'm guessing that was a scared player, and possibly an early Deal. If the latter, I wonder if Noel was told to slow down the proveout?

They should have comedy clips for situations like that to fill the time...

I definately agree with you there Pam! The advice does definately help give some balance to the decision - even if you do think you know what you are going to do. In some cases, where the show is going too quickly, Noel will actually ask some contestants on the wings on your behalf.

I also remember having to step in on someone elses game and tell the contestant to slow down a bit and take stock of what was going on on the board as she was going at a million miles per hour - the crew actually thanked me for it afterwards, but my motive was to try and protect her from making a mistake.
