Quite often the banker offers a very high offer early on in the game, sometimes inflated in proportion to the board, and it exceptionally rare for contestants to accept them, given that it is "expected" that the contestant should provide an entertaining show. So how high would the second offer have to be for you to consider dealing?

£20k and above for me. I'd find it very hard to turn that much down, especially so early on when the game could easily turn around.

Well even if you had all blue first two rounds, the mean would only be around £40,000. So anything above that would be a no-brainer, and the Banker would be crazy to offer it.

It would be hard to get away from a board that good though. An offer like Matt had, at £35,000, would have to be considered seriously.

So you'd seriously turn down an offer of over £70k? :| (Although as Power5 says, the Banker would be equally insane to offer that in the first place...)

If I'd just whacked out a load of blues... chances are I'd start hitting reds more than blues, so I don't know what I'd do... probably no deal, no matter what... but no doubt I'd regret it.

Matt's £35k would be borderline, as it's the start of the Power 5 values, even with the board he had, he only had a 4 in 14 chance of having more in his box, and you can expect to hit at least one of them the following round!

Other ones I have found tempting on poorer boards were Wayne's £19,999 with £50k and £15k gone, and Ashok's £21k with £35k, £20k, and £10k gone! Both should have taken them in hindsight :)

ok, maybe yes you have a point there, but i dont think he would offer over 70 grand at the second offer

Depending on the board anything over £50,000 would no doubt make me deal. But till i'm a contestant (which no doubt i'll never be) I won't know till i'm sitting there how I feel.

£35,000 or above. Under that amount would tempt me very much to no deal

I have to say that depends entirely on the board. If I'd been unfortunate enough to take out nearly all the big amounts and there was only one remaining I may chicken out in fear of losing it during the next round.

On the other hand if all of the Power 5 were intact, I'd be tempted to carry on regardless (as the Beautiful South once said)

Having said all that. A second offer in the £25,000 region would need some serious thought.

The only way you would ever get a really massive offer is if you took out all the lowest amounts in order... but then the banker would probably get in a huff and offer a low amount as a joke or offer a swap... I mean, Endemol aren't going to want anyone to deal at the second offer, are they? ;)

The massive early offers we've been getting lately would suggest otherwise...

Hmmmmm what a great question.

I think it would depend how I felt on the day because part of me is thinking anything above £20,000 would be very hard to turn down and the other part of me is thinking No Deal all the way and play the game... whatever will be, will be.

I like to think I'd be brave and just go for it!! :-D

Early days: Low ealy offers to get everyone to play on
Nowadays: Everyone knows it is not the done thing to deal at the first or second offer, so the banker offers high amounts, then lowers them drastically during the game to make people go on to try and chase the earlier higher offers...

Yeah, but if the Banker keeps up that tactic, sooner or later someone's going to cotton on and actually take one of the first two offers! Which I think would be quite interesting to see, actually, although I dread to think how wakey would react...
