...right, this is something that i have wondered about for a very, very long time. When i was stood on the wings, even if i had some incredible urge for what i had in my box in front of my when someone else was playing, i never said anything. In my opinion i did not want to influence the game in any way, shape or form.

Now over the weeks and weeks of watching, i've noticed that some people do tend to say things along the line of :

"I think i've got a large one in here"
or
"I think this is blue"

What would you do if you were on the wings? Would you say whatever you wanted to, or would you say things that could quite influence someone's game...and think about it the other way around...if you were in the chair, and someone said to you "i'm pretty sure i've got a blue" and you opened it on that basis alone...and it was a huge influential amount...how would you feel towards that player?

i'd keep my gob shut most of the time, but id say if i really though it was big, or trying to help people with decisions.

No matter what, I'd keep my gob shut. People CANNOT AND DO NOT know what is in the boxes, except the idependent adjudicator, of course. If people knew what was in the boxes, they'd either be extremely psychic or have x-rayvision...and we would've heard about them by now if they were that speical.

I would only give advice on whether to deal or not, but even then I may give a no comment, as I wouldn't want the banker to build a profile of me.

If it was my game, I would NEVER open a box basd purely on what someone thinks is in it...I'm sorry, but it's all luck and random, and people CANNOT know what is in the boxes. John doesn't have a tingle.

I'd say "I think it's one of the values that are left remaining on the board". ;)

Some people have had uncanny success in predicting the sort of
money they have in their box. For example, remember Kai from
last year, although it didn't much help his own game. In a recent
show one contestant said "this is definitely a blue" and it turned out to
be the £100,000 in their box. Personally if I was a contestant I
would test the waters for a few shows and see if I could predict the
amount in my box before offering that kind of advice, but if it goes
wrong, then a contestant could blame their whole game on you!
What if a contestant on the wings is sure they have £250,000 in
their box? Could that contribute to our first jackpot winner maybe?

If EVERY contestant there said "I have the £100 in my box", one of them has to be right. And when they are right, the audience will gasp.

I don't give advice in my school's game for fear of being wrong. Equally, I wouldn't give any advice about my box as it really is luck.

June said she had a blue and it turned out to be £250,000

This is what Kes said in the commentary:

Jason asks for a sweep of what people have in their boxes, no-one really commits to start with, June says she feels she has a blue, Jason goes for June

13 - £250,000  :(

I haven't forgotten that just yet ;)

I would keep my gob shut and speak only when spoken to! I don't get feelings from boxes, it's a box, it may have a blue it may have a red, open it and you'll soon find out!

However, if I'm asked for advice whether they should deal or not I would tell them "What does the money mean to you?" and "Only you can be sure of what to do"

I wouldn't hold a grudge on them or anything, it's not their fault. They don't chose which values they have. I chose the box, it's my responsibilty.

I did make a similar comment once in a school game, and got punished accordingly! Since then, I refuse to predict!

I wouldn't say much about my feeling for my box, but in a sweep I would probably ask the player what the money means to them, and like The Banker said, it's all random.

OK this was edited out of the show so pay attention.
As I was given my box for Lesley's game I got an electric shock. I started telling Jim and Mumtaz about it and I said I can convinced it had a huge number in it. Fans of the show may remember I had a huge run of blues - but this felt so different. Anyway the game got going and I could not stop myself saying over and over again - this is huge. Anyway I got asked fairly late on - what do you think you have in the box. I said " It's full of beer vouchers (dont come near me) and I managed to persuade her to pick someone else. I think there was one power 5 left at that point. Anyway she didnt pick me - accepted a deal... and then picked me and I nearly crapped myself when it was the £75K

It was the only time I got a shock off the box or a tingle but if I had not spoken up she would have picked me and got buttons.

The amazing thing is that I agonised over opening my mouth but I had to tell her.

Watching the show I am amazed by how ofter folk say I think it is blue. In my heart I knew that once - just once - I had a Mystic Meg moment.

Back in the contestants holding room they called me Mystic Geordie for a few moments then it was time to change the shirt - top up the make up - and get back across for the next show.

Very spooky and the only time in my life it or anything like it has happend to me.

great story Geordie...

...i actually have a similar one...which i forgot about when i started this thread.

If anyone remember's Simon's game, the Christmas game where we all wore stupid hats and tinsel....i had box number 11 and opened it at a crucial time to reveal the £250,000...i literally felt sick.

The next show (filmed later that same day) i had randomly chosen box number 11 again and as soon as i picked it up, i felt something.

When it got to Angela playing...she had £100k in play at one crucial moment and she picked my box. She had the following on the board : £50, £750, £35,000, £50,000 and £100,000 and she had just turned down an offer of £18,200. On TV they edited it out, but i said "I had box number 11 yesterday, it had £250k and i have a really strong feeling that this is the £100k"...she still picked the box, i opened it....and there it was, the £100k...

...i know it was a 5-1 shot, but for some reason i did just feel like there was a big amount in it. I said it in the studio, and had Angela gone to another box instead, then she would've been left with £750 in her box and £100,000 instead of the £50,000 and the offer would have been a bit more than the £21k she received

and like geordie said...that is the only time that it ever happened to me whilst i was there...even if i did miss out the number 9 in my game!
