Howdo contestants actually gain respect from the banker? Many contestants have deserved to get respect, but haven't! :?

They need to somehow convince the banker that they are not too cautious, and not afraid to gamble. It also helps to not be too dismissive of the offers either, because the respect needs to be mutual. Sufficient respect from the banker usually results in good offers, but they only come with the belief that the player will not deal early with a mediocre offer.

I think the way you appear on the wings influences what the banker things of you too. Also, what he knows about you helps decide whether he will give you big offers or offers that will make you gamble. I don't think its all down to the actual gameplay.

Disagree, I dont think what he knows about you has any relevance, if you've got a bad board you won't get good offers, no matter how much he likes you. Only way is to have a good board and cast iron balls :-D

I think it has had previous influence in other games, I'm thinking of Aaron a while ago. He knew that he was interested in stats, and worked in a bookies, so he knew all about gambling. I think that, and a very good board, helped him get very good offers.

I dont think gaining the respect of the banker is that important if your board is good its good and the offers will follow........... i think its to do with the walk of wealth and your confidence in the chair.. Noel said the other day on the show that the banker can work out how nervous people are by them holding out photos and items for the camera.

This is probably why I only got offered 11K at the 8 box stage - I was clearly bricking it. I tried picking the mug up at one point and had to put it straight back doan as I was sure I was going to drop it.

i guess i was nervous cos i wanted to make the best of it and wasnt mentally prepared at that point - i know that sounds ridiculous but hey I guess i just put too much pressure on myself. I guess its similar to when you first get on the show it takes some folk a few games to be at ease and have a bit of banter on the show - did for me anyway.

Bring him a big bottle of claret (and not a minature one) and then by the end of your game he'll be a bit tipsy and offer you too much. Though it could go the other way and he'll offer you a little amount.

Orhe could realise that you're bribing him and give you low offers because of that.

Well he could but hopefully he'd regard it as a nice thought and not a bribe. But then again who am I kidding.

Well then he's a mean miserable man who deserves to lose all his money and for people not to like him :!:

Perhaps the best way to get respect from the banker is to go all the way to the end but that certainly does not guarantee success, far from it! I think going away with 10p and winning the banker's respect is scant consolation!

Well, I don't think anyone likes the banker anyway...DOND's baker that is, not the forum's!

EDIT:I meant banker, not baker. ;)
