Hi

I get very frustrated when watching DOND and the contestant has members of their family in the audience, as more often or not they ruin a good game.

Take yesterday's program with Emma, she only dealt because her Husband & Mother told her to !! in fact her husband said she should of dealt at £10k....

Some might argue that it is a family decision as there is to much at risk, but if that was the case why did she not deal on the first offer ?? and go home...

It is proven that when you play with family members that they will deal early and miss out on a decent win...will they learn...

It's similar to millionaire with couples, as they will never go far up the ladder and take a risk for the simple reason that the more people you have making a decision the harder it is to make one !!!

Have fun

I suppose that's true in part, but I also think seen as Emma ignored her husband at 10k (good for you, Emma) she obviously chose to make the decision herself.

Should also consider that the offer of 31k was completely unrealistic in my opinion - I'm getting a bit fed up of the banker's inconsistency. Absolutely no WAY he would have offered that, had she still been playing.

I wish they'd ask the other contestants, they've stopped doing that as of late and I quite enjoy hearing their opinions.

It can work the other way too, and I'm sure there are plenty of examples, where family members can stop contestants getting carried away and going away with next to nothing, but I thought Emma's husband was ultimately very supportive, and told Emma that it was her decision, not his.

In the end it is down to the individual

i agree with GT and Rico

Family and friends are there to be the voice of reason.

The very first game I watched was a woman called Julie and without her mum in the audience she might have carried on when she got a big offer but her mum told her to take it and it was a good job she did

Yes you are right, it can work both ways...but my point is that having the pressure of your family there only makes it more difficult to take a risk, calculated or not !

If we continue to get members of the family on the show then we will continue to get lower deals...

I would not take advise from anyone or even do a sweep if i did muck it up I would have to live with it and the only person I could blame is myself but we are all different.

Conversely, I would ask people I trusted but not do a sweep - that would just confuse me. I wouldn't blame people if they encouraged me to make what ultimately turned out to be a bad decision because I don't think I would be able to think clearly if I was the contestant - I'd need somebody to be the "voice of reason"

Haha - don't try and undermine me, I was trying to say something intelligent!

I don't know if I would ask Dave. I'd ask someone who I thought had something sensible to say who I didn't care about that much. I wouldn't want to burden Dave's conscience.

Surly the voice of reason is Noel ? he after all made sure Maurice understood his actions while also wanting him to go on, he was very clear at the extent of the risk...

And with Emma, he said 'remember that joy of £14k, remember that feeling' and yet her face said it all when she realised the deal was to early...

My point is made again...

Last night with Terri, she had no help from Familly and made / took the risk to see her through...

However I did feel so sorry for her, especially when predicting the £250,000 and the £100,000.....so unlucky..

And then to Deal at the end, oh no...

Never mind...but if her family had been there, she would have gone at £20k !!

The family influence works both ways. Gaz who had full encouragement from his wife gambled and went on to win £100,000. Saj ignored the advice of her sister to "deal" and played on to win £50,000. Cockney Dave dealt far too early because his wife was practically in tears at the prospect of him playing on, can't remember how much he lost out on.

I'm quite annoyed at the bankers inconsistency as well. I know he himself plays a game based on the personality traits of each contestant but he seems to favour the blonde ladies and gives some players absolutely pathetic deals, far lower than they deserve which is frustrating.

haha padmaster - bet you were yelling "i told you so" in today's game!

it's one thing asking your mum's opinion, but asking them to choose a box? risky business...

I was indeed, but feel sad too, she was a great contender and I would have continued myself...

Has anyone else noticed that there seem to be far more friends/family members in the audience lately? I think the last person who appeared to be there alone was Rob!
