It's well known that nobody has ever dealt at the second offer. But Matt's £35,000 offer today was the highest ever and certainly the first offer I've seen at that stage which I would have given serious consideration to.

However, with all 11 reds left and only 3 blues, how many people could really walk away from that? I doubt very much I could. I know some on here say they would have dealt it, and it would certainly have produced the best result other than not swapping at the end! So let's see what the majority would have done...

Deal. As I said in the other thread, it would be pretty much "job done" for me at £35k; I'd be absolutely delighted with that result whatever happened. I'd be a little bit disappointed that my game had effectively finished so early, but it would have been a fantastic proveout! (Until it suddenly became an OBW at the last minute, with £50k in the box. :? )

No deal, because every red was still there. Simply put, there is no offer if you have every red left. I know everyone thinks I would no deal everything, right, but there is no way I would walk away from that board.

I'd have no dealt then probably dealt later on. But we all know why the banker offers high early offers - it's to force the player on, and make them try and catch up with the previous offers...

Unlike Matt who immediately No Dealt, it'd have been a tester for me.

I'd have probably done a sweep, and I imagine the majority would have said No Deal, so I'd go with that. Ditto asking the audience to stand up if they think I should No Deal.

I think I'd have actually been more tempted by the £20k opening offer than the £35k second offer. After Round 1, there was an 11% chance of ending up with a blue vs. blue final two. After Round 2, that chance had reduced to just 3%. It was very unlikely that there'd have been a total disaster, and I'd have been quite happy to risk a fair bit of the £35k for the chance of the glory of the quarter-million.

I voted for No Deal as there's too much potential to let slip, though I'm not sure I'd do the same in the chair, as I was getting nervous just watching that! If a couple fo reds had been missing it could have tipped me towards dealing! After all, you're going home with a Power 5 amount!

I guess even if you have a bad round, you can't completely destroy the board, it's just about whether to see fit to try and chase the earlier offer and risk losing everything!

I only wish to think what the 3rd round offer would have been had he not touched the Power 5. £50k maybe?

That's the thing...I'd be *beep* at cutting my losses. I'd probably be far too stubborn to Deal for an offer less than one I'd already turned down, so if I did gamble the big early offer, I'd probably end up going to the end. (And therefore probably win a lot less.)

Hang on, if there was too much potential to let slip, wouldn't you have dealt? :?

Sorry, I meant there's too much potential as in a lot of high values, I wouldn't want to waste the opportunity of one the biggest ever wins - I could still get out with a good sum even if it did start to go wrong!

In all fairness, I get the impression that is exactly what Matt did. The £25k offer for a £50k/£5k split was very close to the mean, and would have been a deal for most people (I think I would deal anything over 20k on that split). But I think the fact that he had earlier turned down £35k meant he thought he needed to get the £50k to be wholly satisfied with his day's work. :(

That's the banker's crafty work, for you! - i.e. high early offers to make the player catch up with them later on in the game

I would have said No Deal because of the board.
