Due to Paul O'Grady recovering from a heart attack, his show is not returning on 4th September as planned.

I know I (and others) have discussed this elsewhere, but thought I'd best remind everyone that from 4/9, DOND is on at 4:45pm - 5:30pm.

It would also appear, according to the Radio Times website, that it is going to be on at 4:45pm for at least the two weeks beginning 4/9 and 11/9 respectively. Presumably Paul O'Grady will return on 18/9, and DOND will be back on at 4:15pm, but this is, as yet, unconfirmed.

Ugh, I don't want it on later...I'm back to school next week, and I'd rather it were on as soon as possible after I get home. Then I'd have an excuse for not doing any work. How selfish of Paul O'Grady to go and have a heart attack.

Well, you can actually blame ITV - it's because of the ratings war - I'll try and find what I posted elsewhere. Hang on... I'm going to find it... wish me luck... LOL!!! :-D

Here it is...

The Paul O'Grady Show was due to return on 4th September on Channel 4, meaning it would be competing with ITV 1's new Sharon Osbourne Show. However, as is mentioned in another thread, Paul is not back on 4/9, because of recovering from a heart attack.

So, rather than C4 putting DOND on at 4:15, then have the filler programmes Come Dine With Me at 5pm and A Place in the Sun at 5:30pm, they are putting Come Dine With Me at 4:15pm, and DOND at 4:45pm, with A Place in the Sun at 5:30pm. Why? Because at 5pm, people will be in the middle of watching DOND, and so are unlikely to switch over to ITV1! I mean, let's face it, DOND is a bigger ratings winner than Come Dine With Me or A Place in the Sun, and therefore is a good insurance temporary replacement for Paul O'Grady!

If it continues beyond 18/9, then that could be good for me. I think I finish each day at the university at about 4pm, meaning I'll get home at about 4:20 - 4:30 (yes I'm living at home) which is later than the time I used to get home from school, so I suppose a 4:45pm start could be good for me. Anyway, what happened to all the rumours and speculation that DOND was going to move to a permanent evening slot? Or were the viewing figures for evenings episodes during double deal week not very good?

Does this affect the More 4 airings?

Doubt it. I'll check, though.

The Double Deal Week ratings were about comparable for both afternoon and evening shows, so they're probably wise to keep it in the established afternoon slot and try and get another hit out of primetime.

Probs not what? Sorry, I didn't know if you were talking about More4 or primetime, there! By the way, how do you manage to get home from school at 2:35pm? I used to finish at 3:40pm, and get home at about 4:00pm... seems quite late in comparison...

Update: After looking on the RadioTimes schedules website, when I was searching for DOND after I heard it might be on a Sunday at some point in the near future, I noticed that in the week beginning 18/9, on weekdays, it is still on at 4:45, so presumably this is the case until at least Friday22nd...

The viewing figures for the primetime shows were the same as, or less than, the viewing figures for DOND when it's not on in primetime, so they didn't bother doing it anymore.

I think it was a last minute decision to do primetime episodes anyway, as you could see where they'd inserted the extra commercial break. I think the hour-long primetime episodes went on a bit too long to be honest, I think the hour-long episodes during Doubel Deal Week were alright, though, because they had the Hall of Fame.

I wonder if they'll put that on at 8PM for an hour or sometime between 5 or 6.

I'd imagine a 45-minute show at 5 or 6, à la Saturday, judging by the apparent average performance of the primetime shows.
