Is it the consistent presence of the Power Five in his/her box or just simply the consistent presence of any "red" amount (even the £1,000, £3,000 and £5,000) in his/her box that make the contestant a Board Destroyer? (aka Black Widow/Terminator)

IMO, I think this term should really be restricted to those that consistently have the Power Five (or at least to those having five digit figures and above (aka Upper Eight)).

What do you think?

Then Sandra reveals the £5,000, it isn't helping her reputation of being a Black Widow, but if she was chosen earlier, she wouldn't have been acussed of being the board destroyer / Black widow.

All about timing unless he / she has a Power 5.

I think Karen on the More4 repeats just has to be one, even though they don't yet appeared to have penned the term. I don't think she's ever had a blue! And her £20,000 sadly killed Raj's game!

She had a blue after a deal in one game. I assure you though, she does have blues in proper play.

Bothers Bar called her "Karen the Kurse" in their show commentaries, before the Black Widow term was coined of course.

That reminds me - just how old is Karen?? She said James was "far too young for [her]" at 27, but I thought she was only about 30 herself! Is she another one of those players who looks young but turns out to be 100?

Spookily enough, I am 28, and was 27 when the show was originally broadcast....but no, I'm not him. I do want to be a contestant though, and also spookily enough, I may well be getting made redundant in 6 months or so, so am likely to be in the same position as him.

But I would have dealt £17,600 without thinking, as I couldn't have coped with losing it!

Well I'm also James and I'm also 28 - and I'm not the one who won £10 on DOND either! (Or the £14,700 one with the beard, or the one who won £500 and looked very young but wasn't, or the posh one in the suit... doubt he was 28 somehow!)

I'm more likely to have played it like £14.7k James, but doubt I could grow a beard like that!

I can tell you won't like me Wakey, I'd be an over-cautious dealer!

Though I do find boards disintegrating post-deal, such as the aforementioned James, or Melanie (the piece de resistance of post-deal trainwrecks) as exciting as possible big wins!
