Just been reading some of the past shows comments on "Today's Show", and read a comment in Connell's game saying that in the round following the offer-of-5, that they didn't know why £750 going was applauded so much, becuase if the last red had gone, Connell would have been left with absolutely nothing.

I agree with this sentiment entirely, I mean if I went on I wouldn't be too unhappy about winning one of the three-figure blues, unless I'd turned down over £20k or something earlier. There's a lot you can do with £500 or £750! The banker doesn't seem to agree with this, for instance on a £35k/blue final two, he offered Fadil and Steve the same amount I think, even though Fadil had 1p and Steve had £750. And looking at the clip of the end of Mike's game, he seemed desperate for his box to contain the £100!

However, I can't see how winning, say £10, is any better than winning 1p! You can't do anything like have a good night out on a tenner (unless you're Carlton ;) ).

I think £100 is probably borderline for peanuts, especially when you take into account the £99 offers given to 1p Trevor, Wayne and Debbie!

Any other views on this?

Fadil was actually offered £200 more!

I hate the high blues...let's face it, if you've given up a few weeks of your life to be there, a few hundred quid isn't going to be much consolation if your game goes wrong. I'd much rather have the fun of winning a joke amount.

oh yeah i remember commenting on connell's game about when £750 was applauded it's all right when the high blues go in the first couple of rounds but if your in a dangerous stage like connell was then £750 is a red he would of been left with 1p and £10 if the £10,000 went aswell.

a similar thing happened in raj's £1 game he took out £100, £250 and £750 and he was left with 10p, 50p, £1, £1,000 and £5,000 he took out three high blues which were the third highest amounts so i don't understand why they were cheered.

i would also be happy winning £500 or £750 the only way i would be upset with winning one of those amounts is if i turned down around £30,000 or something near it. yeah £10 might as well be 1p but when they want someone to win £10 or £5 insted of 1p is because they don't want the contestant to be known as the lowest possible winner.

£100 isn't really peanuts but it's not really great but i would be happy winning £100 rather than a lower blue but i wouldn't deal at £99 because it's a only a 2-figure sum i know it's only £1 off £100 but i wouldn't be happy with a 2-figure sum i would never deal at anything under £100 unless i had 2 low blues and i wanted to beat geordies record for the lowest deal accepted.

A boring answer I know, but I imagine it depends on your circumstances. £100 is a tidy sum of money to a bankrupt student but for some it could be less than a days work. As Daniel says, if you've given up time off work and given up two or three weeks of your life to appear on the show then I think you're going to be pretty disappointed if you walk away with any blue amount, be it 10p, £1 or even £750. Not that I would turn down £750 I might add... :D

It does definitely depend on the type of game you've had. If you've had one that's never got off the ground, like Geordie, Jason or the most recent John, then you may be quite relieved with the 3-figure sum. Indeed, Jason, Wayne and even Geordie no doubt dealt to avoid going home with nothing!

However, if you have a game like 1p Trevor's, when you're one box away from a life-changing sum of £60k or so, then I don't suppose he gave two hoots whether his box contained 1p or £250.....

Also, if I had a red/blue finish, having a high blue would make me a lot more likely to take the gamble - for instance, I would have no-dealt on Steve's last two, but dealt on Fadil's! Well, I would at least have made one correct decision ;)

yeah and if i was one box away from £60k i would be upset with 1p and £250 left and trevor was upset but when the box was opened with 1p in it he was even more upset nearly in tears so he probably wanted to get something out of the disaster
