Right, then. He said he wants to do more travelling, not take a year off. At the moment, DOND is taking a break between June and October in terms of filming.

It is quite possible, that next summer, the filming break will be say between June and August, and then there will be a couple more months break in filming when the contract ends in December, say a filming break between January 2008 and March 2008.

This would give Noel the perfect opportunity to go travelling in Australia, bearing in mind it would be summer / autumn at that time of year, in Australia.

There would be no on-screen break because they record so many in advance.

i think noel should realise, if he quits dond, it'll be hard for him to be great on a great show, i think if he wants to be famous still he better stick with dond

I think DOND will carry on in the same format as when noel leaves, just without him! maybe Les Dennis or someone else wil take over?

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

I guess if this did happen then C4 would then see where the show was at in terms of ratings etc. and decide if it should carry on with a new host, come to an end or take an extended break until Noel wished to return.

The end of next year is a long way off and they may still have a lot of shows recorded and yet to be broadcast at that stage. I always felt it was perhaps a show that was going to burn brightly but burn out quicker than a lot of others, particularly given the volume of shows produced which very few other programmes have ever attempted to match.

I must admit when it first started, I was shocked that it was due to be shown, 6 days a week, with no break planned!

As it happened, it ran continuously (dropping only 2 shows for Christmas and New Year) from 31st October to 22nd July (inclusive).

I think he was already 'famous' nearly 30 years befor DOND given his media background. Why should he worry witha multi million deal delivered already. He has awide range of interests and DOND is only one of them. I don't think he needs to stick with DOND or anything. he can go with the whim or flow as the fancy takes him. Brilliant. Nice to be able to pick and choose ain't it? :D

I am sure that the show would survive without Noel, OK he's a great host, but he is NOT the show. I can think of a couple who could do as good a job.

Noel just said he wanted to do more traveling and not quit. He might just take an extended break for a few months to travel and then return. Who knows?

I think Noel is the show personally. We only need to look at the re-runs to see how wooden it was to start with and it's something as Noel's got comfortable has added his own little things to.

I must agree I think it's going to be a short term show as said above due to 6 shows a week. Perhaps, and I'm guessing it could well be reduced to 3 times a week, and be made primetime - that way they could well record so many in advance to cover any Noel absence!

I'm not sure it would work without Noel, personally.
