My view is that you have to have a strategy. If you go onto the show knowing exactly what order you are going to pick the boxes, then you will come away from DOND knowing that you did the best you could. If you start picking randomly, then you might come away thinking "well, if i'd not picked that box..." etc and leaves you open to a lot of regrets.

One advantage of having a strategy also is that you are taking away one factor of the game from your mind, leaving you able to relax, have fun and concentrate on what the bankers offers are, and not on which box to pick next.

If you remember my game, i was always going to do what i did. I had decided well in advance to pick box 1, then box 2, box 3 etc, then i would miss out box 9 & box 20. That way, i had a good laugh and a good rapport with Noel during the show and that made it a lot more fun for me than stressing over which box to pick next!!!

Your game was particularly good and you strategy was great. I remember Gavin did all even numbers then all odds, but most people did numbers that meant a lot to them and then just picked at random. I would personally pick off all odd numbers first and then even numbers after that as all my lucky numbers are odd.

Very Interesting what you say about having a strategy helped you enjoy the show more.

I have been thinking about this a little and have decided I would completely forget about the numbers and pick the contestants in alphabetical order.

:D :D :D :D

That would be a bit difficult to work out!

Seeing as the game is all about luck, the strategy element is really psychological. But that's still important, because the Banker will react to that - whether it's subtly (Dave's £4321 opening offer) or more significantly (I'm sure there's a recent example of strategy boosting the offer but I can't think of one).

Good point, I couldn't agree more.

However, I don't agree with calling it a strategy as this implies that you have some information that will aid you in your decision making. In DOND this is not the case.
I would call it making a list of numbers and having nerve to stick to it if it all starts going to hell.
