There's been a lot of discussion recently about the banker's proveout offers being too high. An example of what might be considered unnecessarily inflated was in today's game when Lucy received a proveout offer of £105,000 with £100 and £250,000 left, having dealt at £35,000. Should they be more realistic? Vote now!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

I was tied between the 'It makes great TV' option and 'Maybe, but the contestants should never deal!'

i believe his Hypothetical offers are very fair

Except Lisa's £44,000 and possibly Todays £105,000

I went with 'they should be more realistic'. Although the offers aren't solely based on what is left on the board, the banker's perception of the contestant and the strength of the previous round also play a large part in the calculation process.

The majority of the time they're too high, but sometimes they seem to be deflated!

Congrats on 5,000 posts Aaron. :D I voted that the offers are too high and should be more realistic. There are other good examples of inflated high hypothetical proveout offers. For example last week, Neil dealt at £9,500 at the 5 box stage. At the two box stage he had £50,000 and £5,000 left and the banker's proveout offer was £27,000. I think you would generally expect that to be lower in a live game.

An interesting comparison with Lucy's game yesterday in terms of hypothetical offers is Debbie's on June 17th. Having dealt at £15,000, she had 1p and £250,000 left, and the banker's proveout offer was £60,000, surely more realistic given his tendency after the early months of DOND to make lower offers.
