It does amuse me somewhat how Noel is still giving the impression the show is live. Today, for example, when Buddy said his wife was ill and was in the hotel, Noel said, "well, no doubt she's watching you at this moment", implying the show is live (I hope "Tantrum" (as Buddy called her) got better, by the way!).

Also - something else - when DOND takes its summer break, they're going to have to pretend they've had a five week break, when in fact in filming terms, they would've had only a few hours break!

Even stranger is how they finished filming on 16th June and won't start filming again until October. I think they've filmed all the episodes up until about 25th October, which means that the gap between the episode filmed on the 16th June and the first one filmed in October will be an on-screen break of one day, when in filming terms, they had a break of four months!!!

Hehe, it was funny when he asked Giorgio what he'd be doing on Sunday, and it took Giorgio a while to realise what he was on about...

I don't like the fact that they do it so far in advance. I can understand why they do, but it just feels weird to me knowing that the shows we're watching know were filmed months ago. (Buddy's would have been recorded on 1st May, wouldn't it?)

According to my filming dates table :-D , Buddy's game was recorded on the 2nd May. I doubt it would've been recorded on 1st May, that was a Bank Holiday!

A spoiler relating to Buddy and Sally's games was posted on 4th May, so sounds about right.

I think it's fair enough to build in the broadcast date when they film it, as it's known at the time. Though it will never really feel like a live show as they can't refer to recent events (for example, maybe they should have got Giorgio back in the studio to put in a reference to Italy winning the World Cup!)

Its like on Countdown, the Christmas special show was filmed months in advance, but we were all given party hats to wear and asked to wear something festive (I went in the studio audience for it)

I would love to know where they get their poppy's from to wear on the 'remembrance day' show, cos that is also filmed well in advance, maybe they save them from one year to the next???

Are you talking about DOND or Countdown? Because DOND's November episodes seem to be recorded fairly near the time - i.e. they started filming last October, and will apparently start filming again this October, meaning the November episodes aren't recorded too much in advance. The only reason DOND gets so far behind is because they record 15 shows a week (2 weeks on, 1 week off, if you see what I mean), and we only see 6 a week.

well it annoyed me when noel was in double deal week, and kept saying things like 'oh, these guys have only got a few hours to recover from this, before we do it again tonight!' it was just annoyed me.

amongst other things the guy has done...

Oh, poor old Noel! It's probably the producers telling him to say these things, so we musn't get too personal... and remember, Suezan could be reading, so no anti-Noelness!

But, yes, it did annoy me - "these guys have only got afew hours before the next show", blah, blah, blah, when chances were they probably had a weekend's break in filming!

I meant Countdown, h2005, their remembrance day (week really) is pre-recorded, yet they all wear poppies.

Yer it does take a bit of 'pizazz' out of DOND in general for me. . .

Everytime Noel mentions the day or date or something, as I know its not true it just feels false to me.. . .

Also, we can be 99.9% sure that the game we are about to watch wont be a 250k winner, and we know the chances for us of Kirsty and Morris winning the 250k, was not a half at the deal of 2. .. It definitely makes it a bit less exciting.

Filming live or not long before would be impossible as- if players really were there for as long as they are on our screeens, most wouldn't be able to spend that far away from home or work, filming equipment would probably have to be set up loads more times, people would have to drive further and more often, no breaks.

The first DOND was screened on Monday 31/10. Recording started on Thursday 27/10, when 2 shows were recorded. A further 2 shows were filmed on Friday 28/10. So on the day DOND started, there were only 4 shows in the can. They started to build up as 3 a day were recorded thereafter.
