Given that there are more and more ex-contesants/future contestants yet to be seen, and members of the audience joining the forum, I would be interested in the answer to this question:

When Noel says "welcome to mondays/ tuesdays/ wednesdays game", (you get the idea) he will invariably be lying, since three games are filmed every day.

How do the players keep this pretence up?

Are you instructed to not react to any reference to the day it is meant to be? I remember a few days ago, Noel spoke to Marcus about his reaction to another game and Marcus said his hangover had just cleared. I didn't think the references mactched up at the time, and Marcus looked a bit confused by the reference.

In short: Are you fully briefed on how to react on references to what was really 1 hour ago, but is now considered yesterday, and did people screw it up meaning that certain sections of the show had to be reshot to allow for mistakes?

We're not fully briefed; some contestants are better at playing along than others.

They will usually edit out the bits where someone says e.g. "I had the £250,000 in my box earlier today".

The audience are told in advance what "day" it's going to be; apparently once upon a time a little old lady interrupted Noel during his introduction (for a Thursday show) to say "No it's not, it's Tuesday today"

Every now and again we get to film on the right day of the week!

it was hard after john won £10 on the saturday show and fin came on immediately on monday, the contestants were supposed to have had sunday to recover from the dissapointment. the show must go on , no matter what and the contestants rise to the occasion by supporting totally whoever is in the hot seat. that is not to say the contestants don't carry over their hidden feelings. mike immediately followed trevor and that was hard also. the same applies to countdown, where the contestants have to pretend it is a new day, every hour or so.

what a wonderful show dond would be if it went out live

Imagine playing your Christmas edition complete with snow (inside) in early December and your New Year's Day just two days later, in party hats etc. The whole experience is so sureal as someone mentioned the other day, that you do play along. You have about one hour between shows, to calm down, have a hot drink and change your clothes.

exactly the same applies to all game shows that are pre-recorded. There is a long running jibe between Carol Vorderman and Des Lynam on Countdown about him working on Saturday's and missing his sports programmes. We are meant to believe they are actually there working and recording on a Saturday. I think NOT!

Thanks all, that is interesting stuff.

And to all ex-contestants still on DoND time, is it a warm summer?
