Hi

Could anyone tell me who makes the final decision on who gets on the show after the auditions? Is it the people asking the questions or are the interviews looked at afterwards by another decision maker?

Good luck to all those that auditioned recently! Let us know if the phone rings. :D

I got told that the contestants went through a number of filtering Committees....

As an employee of Endomol, the final decision on who gets on the show is ultimately mine. All 80,000+ applications are eventually sent via C4 directly to my house, along with the audition videos and I have to decide who gets through. As you can imagine, the process takes absolutely ages, and all the while I am posting on this forum, the pile of applications gets ever bigger. Only yesterday I received 2 sackfuls of new applications to wade through and I can't move in my front room for all the DVDs I am supposed to look at. Fortunately, I am open to bribes, so if you want your name to be moved to the top of the pile then please get in touch ! All Major Credit Cards accepted. :D

If you haven't heard back, then you're clearly not greasing the right palms.

Most of my emails are from guys in Nigeria who want to give me $20 million tax free, or from companies offering to sell me some viagra or some other sex drug. I get quite a lot of bogus emails from banks such as Halifax and HSBC who are convinced I have an account with them and want me to give them my personal details, but oddly enough I don't recall seeing any of your applications for the show. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

I'm not Geordie, but will answer your question Avie :D

Yes, the auditions are videoed. When I auditioned, Robbie one of the production team had a camera running most of the time. Then at the end you do a direct to video chat with one of the team leading you with questions. That's your opportunity to show whatever it is they're looking for.

We were told that the audition team backs whoever they think as potential contestants and they have to personally 'sell' their choice to producers. Finally, Channel 4 have to approve. So it's quite a lengthy process and I'm sure there are other bits we aren't aware of.

Good luck :D

Yeah that's how Weakest Link do them too. The countdown auditions were a good laugh, they really make you feel special there, all in a group we played a game, just as you do on the show, and no 'personality checks' for that shoe, I don't think it's fair that someone with good General Knowledge won't get on WL cos they are not whacky enough for Anne Robinson to take the piss out of.

Do you ever look at the contestantd on DOND and with some of them think, 'JEEZUS, am I as bloody BORING as THAT?' Makes you wonder just WHAT they are looking for, dunt it?

As to what they were looking for... I was told that because the contestants all had to live together ... they were looking for people that you (the auditioning team) would like to invite to a party in your house. They succeeded brilliantly ... as the contestant bonding clearly shows....

So they wouldn't invite me to a party then

I like parties - I have a special dress. My carers even let me stay out past 9pm :-D

From what they told me at my audition you have your few minutes infront of the camera and then if they think you would be good then they champion you at the meeting afterwards, then those videos and application forms go to another panel for further selection. It sounds about right that it would take a couple of these 'further selections' to narrow it down.

This wasn't confirmed though so may be totally false - I also have a terrible memory that plays tricks on me

You're right Neefs. We`were told that potential players were identified at audition, the researcher and assistant producer at the audition then decide which ones they want to 'sponsor' further. It's clearly important to make your mark with the APs as their credibility etc is dependent to some extent on the acceptability and final performance of their selections.

I'm sure your party dress is very pretty. And next time I have open house, you're more than welcome. You and a few others can share the cab fare from mine back to yours in Southport!
