Curious use of the button, and a bit baffling that he didn't take the offer he wanted at that stage... I think on these boards, it really does pay just to play the board as you normally would, and use the button for a potential bonus from 5-box onwards. But anyway...

EDIT: £11.49 in the 2-box decision!

A game of quite bizarre decisions in the end - casually dismissive of a really decent offer of 83% of the average at 8-box, then rather inexplicable playing of the button after the moderate amount of £10k is revealed, dealing a lesser offer when nothing much had changed with the board... and then declining a BG that was eminently takeable!

Other than that, I'm sure he is correct in his assessment that he played a good game...

Time for an update, starting with Jasmin's game back on Tuesday:

Deal-Eye considering this a borderline Deal, as ever oblivious to any benefit of the button. However, even without the button, it's very much worth a no-deal here, as box 23 offers chances to recoup your losses, so you can go after the big amounts a lot more. For instance, I'd have probably gone on, dealt £10k at 5-box and chanced my luck with box 23 here, and winded up winning more than supposedly a game with a 'perfect' deal. Interesting one...

Terrible deal, not much more to say. Disappointing game and deservedly punishing proveout.

Agonising... :smt009 Can't remember the last time we had a player go on in live play at 5-box with the £250k in play. Would've been very tempting to go for box 23 after that, thank god she didn't as it would've been a very painful crash...

Statsman, last time I checked they did NOT show a repeat of Caroline's game today. :smt047

Wow, analyse that! £10k seems a bit of an underwhelming result there, after indeed the best opening round in DOND history (beating Lisa from 2010 by a mere £4.99!).

Think I'd have been pushed into opening the box there after such a good start, one of those games where it's VERY difficult to think of the final offer in isolation. I know I'd have been tempted into a big gamble anyway, whether that was £10k + box 23 or just going for the box... :eyes:

I think Jake would've dealt the final offer even under normal circumstances as he wanted to travel around the world and he claimed that £10,000 would be enough to do it.

Ironically enough, Jake (1) had the same ambition, but ended up dealing £5,000 + a tent on an ultra-stable £35,000-high 8 box mainly in fear of having a nightmare round like Nalalie did the game before, and he also missed out on a £20,000 result (via his box contents). :P

Another great game today, borderline decision to play the button at that stage (you could take the view that the board had enough strength to essentially risk a 50/50 shot at 4-box). No complaints about the deal, arguable either way but a lot of uncertainty over what a blue/£250k would produce given how much she revealed about her utility curve.

Bit unlucky to get the Marlene finish, which in itself is quite deceptive to gamble on, as it's the only finish that really 'shrinks' the value of £35k utility-wise. Anyway, a tidy 6-figure win for Deal-Eye! :smt023

WOW! What a game for twists and turns, and pleased to see the bold no-deal of £45k ultimately worked out in his favour! :smt023 Barnstorming victory, and it's been the best start to a week in quite some time, the banker having paid out £100,000! :smt023

Funny how yesterday's game reminded me of Marlene's and today's reminded me of welsh Tony at 5-box (he had 1p instead of 50p admittedly... ;) ), 2 particularly epic games I've seen live! :D

Another mega money game, not quite the fireworks of Graham's game, but the boxes fell kindly at a crucial stage. Bit of a self-inflicted disaster for Deal-Eye there...

Braver decision at 2-box than it initially appeared, although most would figure it's worth the risk at those low stakes. Could've been a worse result, could've been better, but at least she took it in good spirit.

What seemed like it would be an exciting finish ends in a whimper as an easy Power 5 win is squandered in favour of a pathetically cowardly deal. Well done Jamie...

Far more understandable decision, and even its slight cautiousness was negated by him deciding to opt for box 23. No change, but a decent result in the circumstances nonetheless! :smt023

I'm pretty sure today's 5 box offer sets a new record for the highest % of Deal-Eye's Benchmark ever offered. ;)

Er... Some games just defy stats, and today's game is such an instance. I believe it is a Deal-Eye Benchmark record, and mathematically-speaking, it's unlikely to get much higher than this surely!

HOWEVER, even at such low stakes, i think it was a glaring error to turn down £500 there - there was no guarantee of any increase, and a good chance of a lot less than that! Thankfully, she came to her senses at £750! :smt046

Not a great deal of sympathy here, as £8k was a pretty decent offer for that board - even an average conventional round wouldn't have got a lot more. Even with the button, it was only slightly more arguable to go on I felt. Bit unlucky to hit the less-the-2% shot in the end, I guess...

That also led us to the FIRST EVER ALL-CONSECUTIVE-VALUES 5-BOX!

It was definitely justifiable to go on at 8 box in Martin's game with the button, as there was a 62.5% chance of hitting a blue in the first box, which would've certainly translated into a five figure offer. Plus, as £12,000 Brian showed last month (and arguably Roxanne the game before :P ), if you go on non-reluctantly you can extract an even more generous offer if you hit a low amount (though obviously not if you hit the top amount, as Graham showed last month as well).
