Simon's game from 16 July 2009 where his wife fainted. :(
In fact, here's the video of that moment.

Trevor. 01/03/06. 1p, £250 and £250,000 remain.

Trevor selects Box 1.

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Apparently, there's a deleted scene circulating through the bootlegging market that depicts Edmonds, after everyone has left the studio after a filming wrap, sobbing his heart out in the middle of the studio floor, struggling to come to terms with how his career has ended up taking the path it has done.

He was once the don of Saturday night television and his shows were compulsive entertainment for all the right reasons and he was hailed as a broadcasting innovator. And now he's stuck perpetually hosting this stale cheese of a game show.

That footage could cut up even the most hardened East End criminal masterminds.

How about every time a player wins a blue through an unavoidable trainwreck (Derek Brown, Nikki Tucker, Mark de Sussa and more recently Mike and Shan). :smt009 :smt009 :smt009 Did anyone else get the feeling that this topic was a little too broad?

I see what you mean, it covers a wide spectrum of things we can put under the heading, "sad moments".

Actually I'll revise my entry. I'll take out "when Trevor selected Box 1", and put in specifically, "the aftermath of...Norma? opening Box 1". Trevor selecting Box 1 could have proven to be one of the greatest moments in the show's history - the first "Scream" finish, for example...

All the 1p winners can come under the title "sad moments" technically, IMO. If we regard all blue wins as "sad", which I, for one, actually don't. I don't because there's more to the game as it's played than simply the numerical, statistical aspect itself. There's the player's character, how they take their bad luck, etc. So much so that a blue win can still be relatively enjoyable, particularly if the player takes it on the chin.

I think Rob's game was quite upsetting, just the fact how he handled it, the whole charade after he dealt was quite sad, actually. :blueponder

My saddest moment of DoND was when Martin reasonably no-dealt £6,100 on a coin-flip of £1 or £35,000, won £1 and was distraught. Heartbraking moment

I bet there were several occasions when contestants would win a blue, take it on the chin during the actual telecast, but when the cameras were shut off, they absolutely lost it and went into hysterics. They wanted to win £X for [insert need here], and ended up with a less than desirable amount of money at the end.

Sometimes, the Dream Factory kills people's dreams rather than helping to fulfill them. Now that's what I call sad.

I'll offer an unusual one: the desperation to fix the mess that produced PJ's 1p game (by sheer chance, the LTL sum that they matched turned out to be the £15k that would arguably have been the perfect final offer anyway). It was like the producers lost the courage of their own convictions (at a time when they were quite clearly applying pressure on contestants not to do that, if and only if those convictions were to gamble), and I thought that was a sad moment for the show as a whole, a sign that they were getting a bit desperate already.

By the time the show hit its stride and became truly confident in the game and its players being the stars of the show, most of the viewers had already left :(
