Hey,

Can anyone tell me what has happened to ilovedealornodeal? It hasn't been updated since February, has it closed down or has the person that does it just forgot?

There's already been a thread about it.

The owner / owners most likely hasn't forgot about the site, just probably can't be bothered / too lazy.

Or other more important priorities in life?

Well no wonder that website hasn't been updating! The owners are too lazy to update it! :x

I have to admit, I honestly wonder if that site should just be closed down and the videos on it transferred to this site - if indeed that's possible... :? :?

Fast forward to September 2012 and it's finally bitten the dust... as it's completely gone off the internet (not just a 404 page or the like, it's truly gone), it means all the videos hosted on it, well over a thousand going back to August 2006 and continuing before its update cease in January 2011, have vanished, never to be seen again.

Huge shame in all honesty, is there anything that could be done ? :?

Most likely because the domain name is expired...

The person who used to own the site used to be on here, but I think she/he handed it over to someone else.

Btw, didn't Kestral take the site over after Mark Smith gave it up ?

Glad I got all the info I wanted from it in time then! :D

It was a handy at-a-glance guide, shame it's no more... :(

I actually watched a few videos the day before it shut down; I've been watching lots of the old vids from season 2.

The site was actually listed as 'in association with www.dond.co.uk', so I don't know if the owners of this site still have much of the show info / videos that were there. Either way, as others hav said, it was an excellent reference guide for seasons 2-6 and I'll miss it.

It is sad that it's no longer alive. I always used to use it to keep up to date with the UK DoND episodes until they suddenly stopped updating around February 2011 :(

TBH Some of the comments that people left on there kind of wound me up, judging by some of the comments people left on the games, it made it look like DigitalSpy at times! So at there's a plus side that we won't have to see those comments again :)

That's a shame. It was a nifty little site back in the day.

i managed to download one video from ilovedealornodeal before its demise - that of the last 10 minutes of £35,000 kerry's game from 10 april 2007.

she's still one of my all-time favourite players - and, of course, her game will always be best remembered for that power cut. who else is amazed that there are no videos of that anywhere?

Endemol reigned a series of biblical copyright strikes some years back which saw pretty much any video uploaded of key DOND moments wiped from Youtube. There's not much out there now with the loss of ilovedealornodeal.

I downloaded a quantity of videos from the site in the last few months (pretty fortunate that I did it in time), quite a lot of them are games which featured a 5-box of one colour as I was compiling images of these boards for my own use.

But there are so many other games I'd dearly love to see which are now gone forever. We haven't even heard why the website wasn't saved in time for the domain expiration. :? :(

Someone out there might hopefully have all the videos still on their hard drive. Would take a long time to upload them all again though

If I'd known about the site's domain running out in August, I'd have saved each and every video.

It would have cost me a lot of hard drive space and money buying externals to store them on, but I would have done it for sure.

Besides, wasn't it Kestral uploading them ? I'd like to hear his word on this :)

Fast forward a few months and, now I'm in a position where I can afford to help domain-wise...I regretfully just realised I'm half a year late. :(

I was about to put my hat into the ring to revive the old thing, but it appears it really did, properly, leave existence last year. I'm not saying I could have updated it regularly, but had I given it the thought back in the summer, I could have steered it from the abyss. As I was just about to volunteer to do this morning, unfortunately.

I'd be interested in a collaborative effort to form a new site, however, if anyone else is willing. Just to put that thought out there... :)

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.
