Its broadcasting status.

From 'currently airing' to 'axed'.

I'd probably change the initial showing on 4 back to 45 minutes, and then air an extended hour long repeat at 6pm on More 4 or 47, like with HIGNFY and QI. :smt023

Less really low amounts for box values. No I don't think they should be scrapped entirely, or the lowest amount be changed to £100 or similar, but I think it's stupid that over half the board is worth £1,000 or less, and almost a third of it is worth pocket change. It hardly encourages people to take risks, especially in the times of today!

James1978 is turning into Mad Mark  :-D

I'd do the same as hogwild... perhaps cut it down to 30 minutes. :P

A new presenter wouldn't hurt either. :D

Yeah Change the top amount to 1 million Pound. The Blues value are way too low.

Ha, ha, good one!

Not quite though (though I agree to an extent) - I still think the 1p should be the lowest amount, but then say make the next box £1 and the next one £10 then the next one £100. So there should still the possiblity of pocket change but it's very much reduced if people want to play to the latter stages. There's nothing like a "Scream finish" for ultimate tension!

I, like psychokiller, have hardly been watching the game this year and looking at the commentaries it seems as though there's hardly any tension in any of the games, everyone seems to be just aiming for a few thousand and caution is ruling the day and there seems little tension out there - Ahmed and Bronwyn seem to have been the exception to the rule.

Whereas having been hooked on the Challenge repeats from the early days, the games seem so much more varied and quite often tense where more people were willing to give it a risk (rather than anyone going to the end nowadays just seems forced on by a weak board and/or offers), so I think a few subtle changes to the gameboard might bring some of that element back to the game (or the production team stop picking cautious players to save themselves money). ;-)

This isn't the 1990s. Besides, they seem to do enough of that anyway, chucking in some sort of 'consolation' prize to save face. Dismal.

Wouldn't be much of a game then.

No 14-box breaks. Keep them at 11-box to avoid predictable deals.

The breaks are a just waste of time. How about the swap in most rounds?

People come on this show to win money, not to be asked if they'd like to play a game of pass the parcel.

Rapier wit. Precisely applied. Stunning. 9.95/10.

What would I change?

I would make the show shorter, back to the original 45 minutes (but that's well known on here anyway).
Other than what's already well known...I agree that a third of the board being "pocket change" is rather silly...especially in today's situation we find ourselves in, where people come on the show literally in need of large sums.

But does the need for more money translate into the amounts being upped? Over time, as a result of the system we live by, and its many flaws, we will end up needing £250,000 to sustain ourselves for one year alone, or less. At basic level.
So in that respect, I think this show will phase out unless it increases the amounts on offer over time.

I mean, we look back at game shows of the '70s and '80s and mock the amounts they offered contestants, because they're so "low" by today's "standards" - these game shows came and went.

Deal (OR NO DEAL :-D ) has to keep up with the times, I feel.
But does the contestant's desire/need for more money translate into the reason for this? I don't believe so, personally.

All this in mind, I would put forward as my main alteration, that the show would have to gradually increase the amounts of money that can be won. Maybe keep 1p, £1, £10, £100...but make those the lowest blues, as someone's already suggested.
I'm a purist student of the game, but I can see that if the show is to stand a chance of reaching its 10th birthday, I'm pretty sure it'll have to update. At some point, somehow.
