Just a thought that came to me...

Who is the independent adjudicator?

How do we know that they work alone?

Do they select which amounts will be in which boxes in completely random prose?

Do they choose whichever amounts they'd like, and in which boxes? For example 'the death box'.

All these questions, that have never been answered once in almost eight years... Just a slight mention before the game starts.

I can't be the only one that has pondered this before?

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Well, I know the "Independent Adjudicator" hasn't always been the same person. But they do indeed act alone. The process by which they select the amounts for the boxes used to be via an Excel Random Number Generator system, but infamously this malfunctioned giving set sequences to the values, in the period dubbed as "sequence-gate", including Geordie's £20 win and Trevor Bruce's 1p win amongst others in Feb/Mar 06, I think.

Production were notified of this as these were aired some weeks after recordings, and promptly that system was ditched.

Now, the selection by the IA is exactly the same as with the contestants - through the drawing of ping-pong balls from a bag, presumably the balls each referring to a sum of money placed in each box in turn or going through each amount and then picking the numbered box related to it, either way TOTALLY RANDOM!

Hope that helps!

Hi Joel, Also, at the Dream factory, if a question like this is asked, she will be pointed out and she will explain what she does. ALSO, she is on set right to the point where Noel comes on, and if ANY CONTESTANT Touches, moves, or places a hand on a box, she will go over to them and tell them not to.

Very strict, but it's gotta be done ;-)
