Well... What was your favourite year of Deal (or No Deal :P)? Personally, mine was 2008. Although that year didn't see a quarter millionaire, it was easily, in my opinion, the most enjoyable and exciting year in terms of the contestants and the games in general. Feel free to comment on the reason for your vote, oh and you have until 31/12/9999 to cast yours... :D

I didn't add an option for 2013 as we're only a month in.

2006. It was just...indescribable. Brilliant year for Deal or No Deal, and that's without any quarter-millionaires as well! :P

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

Gotta be 2006.

2007 was almost as good, 2008 saw a big decline as it was generally quite depressing, the first half of 2009 saw a big improvement and was great with H being on the show, but 2010 was the last year I watched all the vast majority of shows on the day - didn't like the change to hour-long shows and the end of the More 4 repeat at the start of 2011 at all and now only watch the occasional game.

I remember watching that with my dad! He was possible the stupidest man in the history of the show!!! Well, maybe not stupid, but way too cautious... How can you deal the third offer with a board like that? He deserved to lose out on £100,000 to be honest.

Sometimes, the board is just too strong for some players, and the momentum has a greater chance of running out. Plus, Wilf did almost the same thing in May 2011, and got away with it (sort of).

As for the current question, I only started watching full time in May 2010, so I can't really say much at the moment. I'll maybe come back to this later.

I vaguely remember the game myself, but I'm sure he did a sweep and pretty much everyone on the wings + the pilgrims said no deal... Yet he surprised everyone by saying DEAL! £20,000, I believe? However, anyone with half a brain could tell that there was at least another round in it :P Even if he took out some of the power 5 in the next 3 he was almost guaranteed a similar offer, but personally I can't stand players that take the easy way out.

Here's the original commentary in case you haven't seen it, as Kes said, the forum pretty much "went into meltdown".

Lest we forget, though, Marie from January 2006 turned down £7,500 more than Richard on a very similar 11-box board, and then it fell apart, leaving her with just £4,000. In that sense, Richard's deal was nowhere near as bad as it has been made out to be.

Anyway, we've gone off topic here. Of the two complete years of Deal (or No Deal ;) ) I have been following the show for, I would say 2011 was better. But I probably wouldn't be saying that if I'd started watching sooner. (I did watch regularly for a while in late 2006-early 2007, stopping just after Bunney's game).

That's hindsight for you, Marie did the correct thing and Richard didn't - that's how odds work!

The correct thing? What do you mean by that?

It's just a shame Marie and Richard couldn't have swapped boards and games.

Marie turned the offer down, Richard accepted it. Things went wrong for Marie, and right for Richard (hypothetically). Even though the offer was £7,500 higher than Richard's it was still well under what's acceptable on that board and a fraction of the average which given the correct circumstances the banker likes to offer above (although ive never seen a 3rd offer AMO)

The outcome of the game has no relevance to the validity of the decision that was made at that particular time. Although what happened to Richard was highly inevitable ;)

2005, 2006, and 2012. Not sure which, can't vote.

The show in each of these years was about people more than it was about gambling. I'm not sure that's true of the intermediate years.

Well, really I suppose season 1 was the best, followed by this unbroken double season.

There's been two third-offer AMOs, by the way. Both were rejected, and both rejections were punished!

That was quick, KP. Have we had any deals worse than MK1/MK2 Michael or Hayley?

Any statistically ridiculous Brenda like boards? Or the opposite like Nikki?

Some guy called Mark, who played in the summer months, had an all blue 9-box and also achieved the worst ever 11-box board, every blue remaining bar £5 and only £5,000 on the red side.

As to what I was about to say!

And also, James's all-RED 8-box last January.
